1366 X58 Xeon 5650

So would the H600 be decent enough to run it at 4Ghz? Trying to keep my spending down

Yes it is decent enough and its what i am using too cool mine ;)

I have not seen temps go above 60c and thats with intel burn test running with all cores @ 100% idle temps are 18-24 but i guess it will vary from setup to setup.

Just ordered a new air cooler for mine due to my Rajintek Triton constantly foaming up and making gushing noises (Pretty sure the way its installed is to blame).

The only issue is that my current memory is too tall, so I've had to order some lower profile xms3 tri channel memory off the bay. If anyone needs an extra 6gb I'll have a Patriot kit up in the MM soon.

Still going strong even at a lower 3.6GHz clock speed. Great chip, should see me out until AMD release Zen.

I had problems with RAM clearance with my 612S but the solution was to take the heat spreaders off the Vengeance RAM Modules. It's pretty much there for decoration anyway, doesn't make a massive difference to memory temps.

Happy days then, I should have my 5660 delivered today so hopefully with the help of my new xeon friends I can get 4GHz.

That's if the board and chip is working first :D

Was going to do that but landed a 6gb kit for £19, worth it for the slightly improved aesthetics. :)

My 5660 has arrived, all put together, turns on, no beep codes and no display, suggestions? I don't have an i7 to put in. Everything on the mobo lights up, just took ram out to see if i'll get any type of beep code, nothing.

I'm probably thinking its wondering what the hell is in the CPU socket for it to not do anything.

only got one stick of ram to hand, corsair 4gb 1600 blue, and in the slot closest to the CPU, the ram works as i just pulled it out my main PC, another note I have no idea what bios version is on the mobo, i was kinda hoping I get some type of display or an error code if it didn't like it.

As far as I know the x58 boards need at least 2 sticks to function.

EDIT: Just checked my P6T Deluxe v2 manual and it says as much due to the "Intel CPU spec definition"

EDIT 2: That is only the case in Slots A2, B2, C2 so try the first, third and fifth slot.
