Facebook in court over ownership

Social networking website Facebook faces legal action today from the founders of a rival site over claims that their ideas were stolen, in a case that could lead to a change of ownership at the fast growing $10bn (£4.9bn) internet business.

The founders of the ConnectU site allege that Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder, stole their site's software code while he was working for them as a Harvard student.

They have accused Mr Zuckerberg of fraud, copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets, and have demanded to be given ownership of Facebook.

29,000 Sex Offenders Call MySpace Home

News Corp. has found that some 29,000 registered sex offenders have profiles on its site. This number is more four times the amount the company said were on the site two months ago.

MySpace initially refused requests from several attorneys general to share the information posted by registered sex offenders and cited federal privacy laws. However, this changed in May when some states filed legal requests to MySpace to comply.

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said of the revelation that, "I'm absolutely astonished and appalled because the number has grown so exponentially over so short of time with no explanation."

Me too... I'd join the Anti Daily Mail one 100 times if I could. Me & mother seem to argue about the daily mail every time we speak (and I see it on her kitchen table  )

There are many OcUK readers looking at your message with disgust right now. Don't you know that immigration is the most pressing issue at hand?

Thank God for the Daily Mail (aaaaaaahahahahahaha).

i have all 3.

i think i used bebo once couldnt be arsed ever again

i have had my myspace for about 3-4 years, have 116friends. I hate it when people who dont know me add me or people i dont like add me. i use my myspace very rarely, i dont think i ever message people. i check the posts once every never. So i have no idea why i have it anymore. It used to be really really good having a cool background and text.

(if some one wants to read the most emoest blog ever posted by man let me know on here!! its really funny and ive known this guy through this whole time and he is talking bs basically)

facebook used to be good aswell, but these applications are ruining it. i tried to use one but FAILED so took it off and havent used an application since. however being nosy in other peoples lives is good!

Why was it just Oxford and Cambridge? I thought it was all universities at first
They introduced new universities onto it in stages - initially it was just Harvard, then it expanded to other Ivy League schools, and eventually to every college in America. When they started introducing UK universities it was initially just Oxbridge, and then a couple of months later they added other ones. I have no idea why they staggered it like that - it wouldn't have been hard to introduce them all at once.

I tend to speak to people from around my area on MySpace, I can't stand the people who beg for picture comments and brag about how they love someone on the internet in there 'Who I'd Like To Meet' section.

I can't say meeting Fearne Cotton would be the only part of my agenda.

I'd be like: "HAI BUMSEKS?!"

and she'd be like "HOKAI."

and I'd be like *POW* 'n' stuff.

I love Facebook simply for the fact that I can keep in touch with all my mates at other universities without having to try and pick a time of day to call them when they're either not at lectures or out somewhere. I think it has gone downhill a bit since letting everyone in, and I'm not a fan of applications simply because some of my friends have signed up to about nine meaning you can barely find their wall any more.

Myspace is amazing and has revolutionised the unsigned music world by letting bands distribute their music without it being downloadable. As a social networking tool though I'd put it up there with leprosy.

I'd warn everyone though that apparently some big employers now discard CVs of anyone with a MySpace profile and I've also heard of people getting fired after their bosses have gone on their Facebook account and seen pictures of them out on the lash on a worknight. How much of this is urban legend I don't know, but it did encourage me to up my privacy level on Facebook so that now only people in my uni can search me and only friends can see my profile.

LOL

Facebook just *looks* more refined. All these applications are annoying, although though some are useful.

My Myspace profile consist of 1 profile pic, and I have left everything else blank. Facebook wise i've now limit everything to friends only. You can still find me under search but should not be able to see my profile or photos. (thou can someone in the West Midland's network confirm this ? Just search Raymond Lin)

There's an interesting looking Raymond Lin who comes up, with a profile pic of him and someone else, having a light saber fight, lol, several more Raymond Lins and then I think that would be you with the 2 girls in the picture? And nope, can't get on your profile :)

p.s. Wow, quite a few Raymond Lins.. :p

Shame day by day all of these 'apps' makes Facebook look more and more like MySpace.

I Have both MySpace and Facebook, and the only one I really use is Facebook, I find it great for keeping in contact with people that I usually don't have the chance too. I still log into MySpace, but I must admit seeing "pc4pc" or what ever all the bloody time of the same people, their lives must be so empty that they need constant gratification on their pictures from their 10000's of friends, I start to actually feel sorry for them.

Also, I agree that all the bloody applications being put onto Facebook are slowly starting to ruin it, too much crap, I like things simple and functional heh.
