I've never heard of anyone being fired because of something found on their Facebook or Myspace profile, but I can tell you with one hundred percent certainty that prospective employers sometimes check a candidate's Facebook profile to get an idea of what the person is like. My girlfriend has been asked to use her Facebook account to look up people on the Cambridge network before.

Not hired for it? Most definitely

Thou i've heard some guy took a sick day off to play golf, but then his mate took a photo and tagged him on facebook, his boss saw it and fire him. No idea how the boss knew it was that day thou.
