AT £420 I think this is overpriced.

It might look like a good deal when you think of 7970 prices, but when you remember that its $499 USD + VAT = around £377 we're getting ripped off in a country where you earn less and get taxed more than the US

It's always been this way. If the GTX680 is better than a 7970 and comes in at £420 then its a no brainer, get the GTX680

£420... DAMN YOU...

Also, again, 580 prices looking to decrease? I know some have already started, but is this likely to be copied across ranges? Get the deals that you had on the 480 when the 5xx Series came out for the 5xx series now please? :) They really were deals of a lifetime.

In short, all cards reference design, no 4GB parts anytime soon. OC models about 2-4 weeks away but just OC yourself.

Card is mega quiet and is only 2x 6pin power connectors as they have very low TDP and run very cool.

This is tempting...

Wouldn't surprise me if we're getting OcUK tax, as much as I love this place they do like to add a bit for new hardware launches.

I just don't get how 7970 which launches at an RRP of $549 and has cards in the UK on launch day for £416 can be the same price as the GTX 680 which has an RRP of $499, someone is making the extra money because the difference in price sure isn't being given to the consumer.

Since these are pci-express 3.0 do they work on a pci-express 2.0 motherboard? would i lose any performance if using it in 2.0 slot?

Yes they should work fine. A single 7970 doesn't saturate a PCI-Express 2.0 slot, so will therefore perform exactly the same in a PCI-Express 3.0 slot.

Just hope one of these companies get a brain and make the cards able to be 1 slot cards like the 7970 as my M4E slot layout is dumb!
