If I had a 580, I would be waiting for GK110. My 560 is no longer enough for "full specs" in games.

Same i stuck with my 460 when i went sb but it's becoming out dated. don't see the point in waiting for 580's to drop below 300 definately wouldn't pay +300 for one now i'd just pay the extra for the 680

So although this is named the 680, nvidia are planning on releasing a better card later in 2012?!? Suppose that one will be a GTX 685 like the GTX 285 was to the GTX 280...

Yes, Nvidia have always ran a tic toc system.

I think the 680 is the tic and the toc is worth waiting for if you have a decent GPU now. for peopole with a 6950 or a 570/480+ there is no real reason to buy this next GPU.

For one current games no not command spending such ridiculous amounts on a GPU.

How can you say that? The GTX680 will open up new doors for 6950 users. I've got 2 5850s in Crossfire and am tempted to get a GTX680 as its up there with a 7970.

Read the rest, current games just don't warrant it, why not buy another 6950? or get another 480/570 if you want a GTX 680 then make your own mind up and buy one.

I would say from a 5850 it is worth the shout.

Your right but CF has its flaws, suppose it depends how much users want to tinker with drivers/patches to get CF working in games.

So it looks like my watercooled 3gb 580 it will stay with me a bit longer. maybe I'll get another one for sli, when the prices come down.

I think the Later Nvidia release be it a 685 or a 700 series (no one knows of the name yet) is the one to get, just look at how much better the 580 was over the 480, I'm not talking raw speed, but other tweaks like power, more cores, more ram etc.

But the 685 won't be out until end of this year :( For me if I can play BF3 at 1080P all settings on High with no SBAO and it doesnt drop below 60fps I'll be happy.. I think the GTX680 will cover this

I can't see you waiting that long tbh.

Also I really think ATI will have something up their sleeve, the base of the 7000 series platform is awesome, so I really think a refresh from the red team will be a stonking card.

I just hope they learned from the pricing mistake.

No they should be £299.....but you have to understand their price point when it's as fast as a £450 red card ;)

I understand it alright, but don't agree with it. Nvidia could have quite easily destroyed ati this year releasing it with a sub £400 rrp, would have se them up nicely for their 7xx release.

Just hoped one of these two realised what kind of climate were in, or at least give the Uk a break instead of charging us 20% more and treating us like mugs. :(

Really I'm not in the game at this price, was hoping for 350, then wait till it hit sub 300 and make my move, but by that time 7xx will be out, nvidia milking the Market for all it can.

nvidia milking the Market for all it can. ???

But isn't that exactly what AMD are currently doing as well ? Both as bad as each other for this but adding in VAT and retailer gouging never makes any new card look a bargain ;)

I can almost guarantee they will gauge the market, otherwise they will not sell just like the ATI cards.
I would think not much will happen until 570/580 prices drop, which has to be very soon ;)

there is about £150 mark up from retailers from new card's when there released.

thats where the money is going :)

business is business at the end of the day.

Are we getting a pyramid

Nope. Very limted stock at a guess.

Debating whether to go 470 SLI or save up and get one of these now

The heat, noise and power draw of 470SLI would push me towards a cooler 680 with a lot lower power draw and fan noise, it would offer very similar performance to 470 SLI as well, especially when clocked.
