I can understand if you have really old hardware, but if you have recent generation cards, what is the point? There is nothing out there that pushes them, and nothing decent on the horizon that will either. The only exception I can see is if you use them for something other than gaming.

We really need a new generation of consoles to get things going again.

Fair point.

It's worth it for triple screen setups/3D/120hz gaming though otherwise i see your point for standard 1920x1080 60hz gaming.

I need as much fps as possible since buying my new monitor.

Well if the suggestion is true that these are gonna go on sale just short of £400.00 then expect to see sub £300.00 7970s very soon. Makes sense looks like on average the 680s gonna be 25% faster than the 7970 would make sense for AMD to drop prices to 25% less.

Hhmm crossfire or grab one/two of these.......

AMD will never reduce price of 7970 to sub £300, it's their flasgship card! It may get slightly cheaper but won't be for months. As it stands if all what is said in this thread thus far is true.. the GTX680 is the clear winner.

Yes, but as before I don't have games. So just Heaven 2.5 as previous which from the feedback I have is not so fair as the NVIDIA card is not quite as good in Heaven but certainly has an edge in actual games. Should be able to do some 3D Mark as well I think.

All I can say it looks good, its quieter than 7970 which was quiet, it clocks to similar levels;) and it cost less. :)

Asus, OcUK, MSI, EVGA and Gigabyte are in stock and ready for launch. :)

How much less, say less than £380? Since you can get a 7970 for that..

These are $499 according to Fudzilla, it would be nice if we got these for £350-360 but I doubt it. For £350 or there about I'll get one on day one. Will be a change since I've only ever owned ATI/AMD cards though.
