1899 | Netflix

Episode 1
The song at the end is one of my favourites, White Rabbit, Jefferson Airplane!
Great start and quite atmospheric . The scene is set for the story to unfold. Definitely watching the rest of this.

Think I got this right - there are 2 English audio options for this; original and dubbed - original some characters speak English but other characters speak a variety of languages - while dubbed those are replaced with all English.
Yup, opted for English original. Two episodes in so far, full of intrigue :)

Anyone who hasn't seen Dark, you're missing out!

Watched the first episode last night and so many questions that I already want answers for, if it wasn't so late when I finished it I would have gone into episode 2 but it's one that requires your full attention to pick up the little details, definitely going to try getting the rest of it finished over the weekend.

Episode 2 has even more questions and quite an ending. It certainly needs your full attention and no more than two episodes per viewing.

4 episodes in. Things get much weirder and very few answers yet.

Still quite gripping, but it's a very slow burning series. Much like Dark, but it draws you in.

Loving the music at the end of each episode too.

Loving the music at the end of each episode too.

The music is great, here all the tracks:

  • 1899 theme song: “White Rabbit” cover performed by Eliot Sumner
  • “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane – featured in episode 1
  • “Child in Time” by Deep Purple – featured in episode 2
  • “The Killing Moon” by Echo and the Bunnymen – featured in episode 3
  • “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” by Blue Öyster Cult – featured in episode 4
  • “The Wizard” by Black Sabbath – featured in episode 5
  • “All Along the Watchtower” by Jimi Hendrix – featured in episode 6
  • “The Wind (Of My Soul)” by Cat Stevens featured in episode 7
  • “Starman” by David Bowie featured in episode 8

Overall I enjoyed it be wasn't as good as Dark. I started to get a bit bored after episode 5, some of the characters I just didn't find interesting and we had 2 episodes where all they did was shovel coal in the engine room. The relationship between the chinese lady and the french guy was plain odd, they didn't understand a word they were saying yet understood each other.

How on earth would they ever do a season 2 from that?!
Don't think it will be on earth.
