1899 | Netflix

LOL Netflix are a bleeding joke.

Couldn't wait for the next season but also knew it would get cut, mist of the good shows do on Netflix.

Cancelled the sub tonight, screw them.

Don't think this needs a season 2 myself.

But if there was I'm surprised they cancelled it.

What do Netflix use to cancel shows? It does seem prolific. Not many other streaming options that work for me unfortunately.

My biggest disappointment was archive 81 started watching not knowing it was cancelled. Netflix should have a flag on the image if a show was cancelled to stop wasting people's time.
It is often baffling but the hours watched dont always tell the full story. I wish Netflix was more open about why they cancel shows so abruptly.

Read a discussion on reddit about completion rates, i.e how many started it and only watched x episodes. This may be why some shows dont make it despite seeming quite popular on release.

I thought it was pretty poor, such a disapointment after Dark, but this goes to show just why I don't give any streaming services my money. It seems plenty of people did like it, and the viewership was decent, but it just got cancelled. So everyone who was invested has just had their time wasted and have paid for the priveledge.

This is what NF in particular do, if a show isn't amazing or gets expensive they just cut bait.

This sounds like the likely reason for this show being cancelled.

It might well be the reason. It wouldnt be hard for them to say so, instead of annoying fans and getting a reputation for chopping everything :)

The streaming services clearly have vast amounts of accurate data on who / how / what we watch, compared to broadcast TV which I'm presuming still at least partially involves small subsets / surveys and a lot of extrapolation.

Netflix does seem to be getting more and more gung ho. We're seeing multiple shows being cancelled when they haven't even been out a few months. It is very frustrating and will lead to people not wanting to take a risk on new shows....which will just see more shows cancelled. Also why would creators make any show that would need more than one season? The likeliness is it is never going to see that second season.

I read somewhere that the whole show was filmed in some high tech super duper film studio in Germany. Really expensive due to the special effects and using a high tech studio.

I recall Sense8 was also cancelled due to really high costs (international locations and international cast), despite having good viewing numbers.

So I would say Netflix use some Algorithm that weighs costs against viewers. Either way, like some others in this thread, they've cancelled a few things I liked midway and it's starting to get annoying!

My plan is to cancel this year anyway, literally just waiting for cobra Kai S5 and stranger things S5. After that back to the high seas for Netflix content and will keep my Prime and D+ only.

I suspect we are gonna get more things billed as "Limited Series" which basically means one season. Kaleidoscope iss a good recent example.

I do wonder if the 'early' successes like Stranger Things and Dark were launched in their current state of mind whether they'd even reach their endings.
Stranger Things is a cash grab, gets written each season,. with the exception of the last and next. Dark's story was already written for the 3 seasons before s1 went into production.

Netflix being the usual Netflix of having 1 season of something and then cancelling it. I've lost count of the number of shows on Netflix that I've watched a season of and got into only for them to cancel it

over Christmas, I built a little ubuntu box on a beelink mini pc. That's ideal for pi-hole and plex.
