there are very stringent manufacturing specs and regulations for wheel manufacture.
Yeah, I didn't think anybody would be allowed to make or sell a whell that didn't meet certain standards :)

Was possibly looking at THESE

I don't understand, if you've got a grand kicking around for spanky new wheels why not put that with the cash you have and buy a facelift 520i?

We haven't got a grand kicking around at the moment , we're just looking at alloys at the moment to get an idea

They won't be changed until about 6 months time at the earliest after we've saved some money up :)

unless you have money to burn i'd advise against spending unecessary money on any car.
if you DETEST the wheels your car has then that's one thing, but if it's just because you think wheel xyz looks a bit nicer then remind yourself you're spending what is essentially dead money on your car.

If its the car on the front page it is unfortunately fitted with the worst alloys BMW have ever made, they are truely hideous :p

We're not changing them just for the sake of it - this isn't a car like Dexy where I want to mod the pants off it but I really don't like the wheels that are on there now :(

I didn't let it put me off buying it because that car is looovely and the wheels are something that can be changed at some point :)

Lies. I took the liberty of making you a shopping list.

1x Set facelift headlights: £329
1x Set rear facelift CELIS lights: £180
1x Genuine BMW Sport pack (Front/rear bumpers/fogs) £1175 inc fitting/spraying
4x BMW Style 37 M-Parrellel 18" alloy wheels with Eagle F1 GS-D3 tyres: £900

Result: One awesome looking car. Infact, one that looks like the one I posted with the wheels on :p

i understand, but this can be a dangerous area.
it's so easy to get carried away changing minor details until before you know it you've spent so much money you'd have been better off getting the car you couldn't afford in the first place with the extra cash.

as car obsessives we find it all too easy to lose perspective...self included.

Get out of it !! :p

As much as I would LOVE to do all that realistically we're looking at just the alloys ....... and maybe the headlights :o

I know it's all too easy to get carried away on a car , I spent not far short of £2.5K on Dexy and I'd only just started

And the rear lights.

all they need to do is it park it up to a facelift and then notice the difference between the lights.

looking at each individually doesnt seem such a difference. the new guy at work has a pre facelift 528 and you can easily tell when they are side by side. :)

Sorry for the bump, but OMGWTF no more Dexy. :(

I don't normally come in here. Spotted the new sig and needed to go have a poke. :)

After having a brief ride in pretend-Dexy I can say it was fun, but I never got to see real Dexy. I understand where the sensibleness came from though. Still, fun while it lasted. :D

Pretend Dexy was nowhere near as fun as my real Dexy :/

My last day of driving her today and I think I'm going to cry when I hand her over :(

I think the crying will stop though when I start driving the new car because it's just soooo lovely and comfy and smooth and has lots of toys to play with :D

The swap hath been done !!

I was in a sulk on the way there and was all sad when we drove off and I waved bye bye to Dexy :(

I started to perk up when the car was on the bypass and then when I drove home from Tescos I felt all happy again :D

She's looovely to drive and the toys are amazing

Going to get some new numberplates ordered then we'll post some pics :)
