1day Acuvue me a car for £6k ish

Had a good look over the last couple of days (admitedly only autotrader and local car places) and these two really semm to be the best on price and spec. It's just a case of deciding which. We haven't had a trade in price for Dexy from the Black one yet so it may get blown out of the water totally. Having said that, a better price than the Blue one has offered could seal it.

But ..... But But ... I like the BLOOOOOO !!!!!! :p

Black is a ******* to keep clean :o

you know, even tho your right, that few minutes between finishing washing the black car and it getting dirty (by being driven anywhere) you will be amazed at the colour.

that could be because its rare to see it in such cleanliness, but it makes me like black even more :D
specially bmw cosmos black!

I'd have the 523i simply becuase it isn't a 520i. I imagine you'll tire of the lack of power soon.

The 523i is a heavily restricted 2.5 - with a few mods, you can get about 190bhp and they are reasonably quick :) The later 525i with 2.5 litre engine was 192bhp.

As for colour, well..

Black looks AWESOME when clean, but shows every dent, mark, scratch and spec of dust. Thing is, so does dark blue, but Dark Blue doesnt that look good when clean, so get black :p

Well we're taking a look at both at the weekend. Piggy is still hankering after Blue and I don't mind either way but would lean towards Blue. It all comes down to the price at Black and then the difference in engine performance. Other than that there's really not much in it :o

I'm considering having this tattoo'd somewhere :)

I had a dream about the cars last night

It's like having to chose between 2 favourite toys :/

Hopefully we'll be able to decide after driving them both on Saturday

And the winner is ...

BLUE ! :D

The black one was a bit of a dog and the car dealer was an Arthur Daly type affair :/

The ad said 62,000m but it was actually 87,000m - No Sunroof as advertied - Due an inspection 1 service - No Tax - Not all BMW Services - Front fog light smashed which isn't a problem in itself but it was all rusty inside which shows it had been smashed for a while .. basically it all smacked of not really been looked after :(

I must admit I do prefer the look of the Blue as well

The only downside of the Blue compared to the Black was the engine but Desmo drove them both ( We were in Colchester and I didn't want to drive the Black one because I didn't have a clue where I was ) and said there wasn't THAT much difference so i's not really an issue for what we want it for .. A motorway cruiser

The Blue one does need taxing but that was the only thing - It's only just had an inspection 2 service and has clearly been looked after very well

In the end we've paid £6,300 - £2K for Dexy and the rest in wonga :)

Me = Happy :cool:

You only got £2k for the FTO?

No way I thought you'd be looking at at least £4k?

Not a hope in hell .. the market has been flooded with them now the majority have reached 10+ years old therefore no need for an SVA :/

Dealers are imported them ( and not good quality ones ) left right and bloody centre so the price has gone right down .. have a look on autotrader .. average price is £2.5-3K :(

We'll be picking the 5 up mid-late next week so I'll post some pics next weekend .. already been looking at alloys :o

Alloys?

Alloys for an E39?

18" M-Parrellels :)

Aye, they look nice. Is there much difference between originals and replicas? I've never bought a set of alloys before

Originals will be probably better quality. i.e. stronger & better finish.

some aftermarket wheels can be bent if hit hard E.g. pothole. also the finish can be poor. :)

Yeah, I thought as much. Just that I'm not sure we could justify paying full whack for originals. Surely the replicas aren't too bad are they?

there are very stringent manufacturing specs and regulations for wheel manufacture.
buy any wheel from a manufacturer you've heard of before with total confidence on the quality of their product.
