The only thing that prevents the world from being made a better place for all is desire by those in power, if all world leaders were able to sit down and work together without putting their own petty self interests first we wouldn't have the rampant problems that we do today. Illegal immigration, climate change and many other issues are a direct result of greed. Do I think that's every going to realistically change in my life time? No I don't because those who have it best don't see reason to change.
For example if a significant armed forces coalition of say a few million crossed in to the African continent with the clear mission of ending ethnic cleansing and corruption, setting up democracy and building infastructure with no exploitation of each nations natural resources whether they be fuels, diamonds, stone whatever. Building schools, educating people and providing modern tools etc Before moving on, you'd find that many of the countless hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants would probably prefer to remain or return to their home nations.
