If I was proposing anything I'd be working in politics instead of trying to prove a point on a forum.

Yes however I would let *some* in, those ones in genuine need, which would obviously have to be vetted to check out.

If someone turns up on our shores saying 'Please let me stay, I'll work, pay taxes etc but if you send me home I'll be shot' and it was actually true would you 'send 'em back'??

Thats how it works, all this hotel malarkey is becuase theyre currently in the asylum stage where this gets deported. You try getting a job with no I.D in order to get a house to rent with no money. You put them on the street and theyre forced to turn to illegal work.

The system already 'works' its just overwhelmed, and you try getting more taxpayer money for the problem while people in this thread moan about how bad the UK's problems are anyway.

I never mentioned new house or cars, but they are found a home, whether it be a hostel or a house and they are given money weekly (all be it a modest amount) depending on their age and circumstance, and I think this a big contrast to the UK government's approach before they arrive here in making it clear that they are not welcome in the first place.

We need far more inhumane internment camps than empty schools, something like old rotting ships off the coast of the country, like the Australians do. Treating these scrounging illegals with kid gloves sends the wrong message to the next boat full of free loaders. Horror stories need to be in circulation, not talk of plush hotels and free cash handouts for all.

Also wheres this 99% rule? When you can prove it then we can start talking numbers.

Also I'll have to interview each of them, just as the UK gov does now and weigh up whether they can stay or not.

So we can talk numbers when i've finished doing that lot.

So again, what's your answer? No captain hindsighting it with "we shouldn't have let them in, they should have been stopped at the border" because clearly that moment has passed. Arrest them for being here illegally? Prisons are full and they cost a damn sight more than a crap hotel and £5 a day.

I'm not disagreeing that it's a problem, but there really isn't a quick solution.

Yup, all those skilled worker immigrants paying tax are paying for them too, probably considerably more than you are.

Not my fault I went to college and learned stuff. Also I'm not a liberal. Also seen quite a bit of the real world, its alright out there you should have a look sometime!



Youre right, were not all the same. Some of us learned about things.

No 7+ billion people on our tiny island probably would be a touch cramped but guess what if we got the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries to actually modernize what these people have in their home countries like teaching subsistence farmers modern techniques and providing equipment you'd probably find disease and famine wouldn't be so much of a problem and that a lot of immigrants might actually stay at home.

Look just because different nationalities have different moral standards than what we have doesn't make them any less human oh and like Boycey I'm not a liberal either, I consider myself a good old fashioned socialist.

im just waiting for there to be some form of amnesty and a few thousand illegals get to walk in and handed a passport. if this does happen il be battering my mp's ear about it as currently i have to earn £18600 a year so i can ship the gf in eventually and she has a degree, speaks english and has 10+ years of experience working in social services in new york, yet no easy route for us or many others in a similar boat.
