2006 Cooler Master Mod Competition

Mines goign slow as well there's a couple of bits holding me up but once i get those sorted then it should be all go - were almost at the end of september now and the entries have to be in by the end of october so time is running out!

That things nuts - heavy lifting gear required or what ;)

My project now has the funds but need the parts (might win a few tomorrow)
but rapidly running out of time....as prefired psu and cooler are not coolermaster - and this is actually going to be my rig I might just post logs here and not enter comp.

Was thinking of mCubeing my 620 with a custom copper HS (hotrod style) but need to take some more dims before commiting to spend on a fan less system

Small update - Due to my CM PSU not fitting my case properly, i have scratched up the sides of the PSU - so i have decided to have a go at painting the PSU and i'm going to put new stickers on it.

The design for the new stickers:

If the painting goes well i may decide to paint the side panels too!

Harib0 - don't do things by half do you ;) :D nice attention to detail.

Well to be honest i wouldn't have needed to do it if the bleeping PSU fitted ok, and having spoke to Ichabod last night it seems i'm not the only one - his real power 550 is a tight squeeze in his wavemaster, and he's scratched all the side of his too!

Will do some before and after shots of the old and new stickers.

UPDATE!

Well today i spent my time stripping the paint from the side and top panels, i was really surprised at the quality of the fininsh of the bare alu underneath and actually considered for one minute to just leave them bare, but the paint was purchased so i will carry on and paint.
paint on the PSU - it would not shift, so i think it's going to be a sanding job YUCK!

Bubbling of the paint on the top panel:

The black paint on the PSU not shifting:

The paint almost off the top panel, and the paint stripper getting to work on the side panel:

The top panel having a nice hot soapy bath:

Tomorrow i hope to prime the panels

Primer went on tonight, it's been a dry day and the temp was just nice, although it was dark so i'll have to check out the job in the morning.

I've used one and a bit 400ml cans of plastikote grey primer (2 side panels, top panel and PSU case, inside and out), Next step is to sand and prime again - will probably be the last coat of primer as i only got 2 cans, then will move onto 2 coats of colour followed by 1 maybe 2 coats of lacquer

PS wilkinson is very cheap for plastikote at £4.49 a 400ml can

IM OUT!!!, cant compete this year. started engraving today it looks poo nothing like i was expecting so im not entering maybe next year when i have more time and get started early in the summer got an S4000 for for next year to :)

Looks like it's only me left in then :(

Second coat of primer went on last night and i'm off over my dads to make use of his garage for the first coat of colour - i'm pretty excited now as the finnish looks to be near for me, and with only two weeks left it's a good job lol

Well here is the front bezel and bay blanks, anodised blue - i haven't seen them in person yet, they should be here tomorrow so i'll post some more pictures then

Haha i just had a thought - as most ocukers have been unable to finnish in time or haven't had the funds, it means i should (hopefully) get a larger share of the OcUK votes that may have been shared out between the ocuk entrants
Time to start rounding up voters me thinks lol
