Well unless you work for McLaren or the FIA you don't know how hard he accelerated, if it was full throttle or not.

The only thing that can be told from that video is he didn't lift off.

It clearly wasn't full throttle because otherwise he would have been way out in front of KR especially since considering KR at the time was having serious traction problems.

Yes he would have I would imagine and he was 3/4 of a car length infront at the corner. KR left zero track for LH to go on. If you'd ever driven a track, you'd know that, once KR scythed across the line, LH was already turning into the corner and harsh braking could have caused an accident. Let's out your immense knowledge behind this. What would you have said I LH had braked to be a good boy and keep on track and by doing so had clipped KR, spinning both out? Take your red glasses off and read the SIMPLE facts:

1) LH was 3/4 of a car length A-H-E-A-D at the start of the complex.
2) KR was 3 car lengths A-H-E-A-D crossing the line.

In any logical form, can you tell us how losing the neck end of 4 car lengths constitues an advantage, unless you're an utterly Ferrari-blinkered blithering idiot???

Look at Gord's pics and tell me at which one LH was 3/4 of a car length in front of Kimi??

Lewis must have super human senses to be able to judge a 6km/h difference. I bet a back marker lifts more than that to let someone through. I havn't read all the posts but has anyone thought that maybe Lewis got better drive out of the corner by going well offline? You saw how kimi got that when both him and hamilton went off on that same lap later on, although lewis rejoined the track much sooner, kimi swept round the outside. Brundle said how often when it was wet, unused parts of the track often had much more grip. At the end of the day though, both in the chicane, and in the first corner, lewis simply outbraked kimi, thats how he got along side, and ultimately thats how he overtook. If hamilton hadn't proceded to go past kimi in turn 1 nothing would have been said. Jeez i sound like im in the Hamilton fan club now..... COME ON YOU REDS! Right i'm off now, going to the Ferrari/FIA post race party now.. night.

Interesting

30.3 a) During practice and the race, drivers may use only the track and must at all times observe the provisions of the Code relating to driving behaviour on circuits.

Appendix L Chapeter 4 Article 2 (g): The race track alone shall be used by the drivers during the race
.

Apart from if you are called Raikkonen

Hamilton almost ahead at the breaking point for the chicaine. KR should have given him more space as it's obvious he was there however:

Kimi left him no room. Cutting the chicane was the only way to avoid collision. Maybe he could have braked but that may have caused a collision.

See Dup's pics above.

I think the point is that if he carried on, he would have went onto the curb / grass, and then slid and crashed into KR, therefore, taking the action he did (which included letting KR back infront of him) was the only sensible option to take (both for keeping them both on the track, and in keeping with F1 rules)

Kitchister is overzealous in his estimation of Hamilton's lead, but there is one nonetheless.

And I would agree with you, if it was gravel on the left then Hamilton would have had a pretty easy choice, stuck in the gravel, or touch Kimi... but if Hamilton had touched Kimis left rear and spun him I know exactly what would be happening right now.

But it is all conjecture at the moment. I honestly want to see the telemetry as i think it will be interesting. If Hamilton did lift off then i think McLaren have a fair case. I still think LH made a bit of a hash of giving it back tbh, as like i have said, he had the measure of Kimi.

I think the penalty is harsh, especially considering Kimi didn't finish, but it was on the cards when Sutil got his 25 second penalty, seems to be the way the stewards where going to punish.

I don't know if he would have got a drive through if it had been in lap 20 or not.

For the record, i am not a Ferrari fan, i just don't like McLaren.

I honestly think
- Kimi has the right of way as he is in the better position and on the racing line.
- Hamilton could have kept it on the track, and would have, had it not been an easy exit, he also gets out before the grass too.
- The amount of wheel to wheel racing that has been going on this season, i don't know what would have happened, was there not an earlier incident of someone getting spun?? Maybe it was Glock involved in an early lap?

The problem is... when you've been punished for something... in anything in life this is... you like you think "right OK I did wrong but I will make sure I won't make the same mistake again". Can LH think that? I really doubt it. It pretty much brings into question any overtaking move he makes in the future. He is going to be wary to overtake now for fear of being punished.

Camera Angle tbh. Gords are almost head on and it shows about a front wing worth of advantage.

Er....no? Different points in time more like it. KR takes a more direct line into the corner therefore the gap is closed. Am looking forward to seeing the replays tbh.

Edit/ The cars are far too close to each other to be split massively or the angle distorted
