It's a tough one. 37000 people had signedthat online petition when I looked yesterday. It's a grey area really. NAmely MS/Ferrari and other drivers in the past have got away with alsorts like backing off after safety car goes in, punting people off, and pulling the same manouvre as seen at Spa. The probem is now that the stewards seem to be going by the "If in doubt, penalise" rule.
I beleive the 25 second penalty was a bit too much. A drive through wouldn't have taken that long but I suppose it's consistent with a similar incedent being penalised with the same punishment. It does however not benefit the victim of the infraction, Kimi Raikkonen. I feel a 10 place drop at the next race would have been more apt maybe.

Doesn't the rule say you should give the place back or does it say you should not gain an advantage.

Why the conjecture concerning how other cars are performing when entering the chicane on the gearbox. Hamilton entered the complex in front, exited in front, gave the position back and took it again, not because of traction or slipstreaming but because Kimi broke too early.
do you understand he cut the chicane? had he followed the track would not have mattered if kimi broke early he would still not have been close enough to pass him
I understand Kimi gave Hamilton 2 options, hit me or cut the chicane. Cant wait to see Hamilton use what he has learnt at Spa, forcing your opponents into cutting chicanes is a'ok! And then, Hamilton could make a mistake on the following corner allowing the chicane cutter back through, but not to worry.. theres that new "advantage" rule thats been modified.

hamilton already did the same to massa and nelson in germany lewis had the option to back out of the move
What like your opinion on the conversation between Mclaren and Race Control was based on fact? or its only a fact when it is your opinion?
You only have to watch the youtube videos to see Hamilton try and get back in behind the Ferrari when he realises Kimi is going to drive him off the track, but its not going to happen. Why should he back out of the move anyway? He is there racing legitimately.
