2008 British Grand Prix - Race 9/17

TBH, the GP should be held at Castle Coombe then. You can stand on a bank and see most of the track. Good enough reason for me!

Best track for vantage point is Mallory Park. You can stand in one spot and see the whole track. Its not the biggest however.

First time I saw a R32 Skyline was at Mallory Park. Lapped everything 3 or 4 times then conked out :D

Ok ive just woken up feeling really gutted im not at Silverstone today, had a brilliant time last year, and im going next year if it kills me. :(
Can we all start doing the rain dance now by the way?
:D

Indeed. Thats why they lost it, they couldnt afford Bernies silly-high fees. :(

Funnily enough, Bernie isn't running a charity. And I'm reasonably sure Silverstone *could* afford to run the GP, they just *wouldn't*.

I swear, some of you have really odd ideas about Bernie being the root of all evil....

I understand that, what I fail to understand is how a track is meant to host a GP when the sole income they have is gate money. Bernie takes all the TV money, all the trackside advertising money and the race title sponsorship.

NO!

I want to stay dry for the day :p

Only if you are there would I want it to stay dry.

For the millions watching on TV rain would make a usually fairly dull race into something worth watching.

Speaking of which i'm so annoyed with the weather forecasts for the last few races. Canada said it was going to rain... we only got it in a practice session. France was supposed to rain, got it in the GP2 and it was cracking but nothing for F1 and YET ANOTHER DULL RACE followed (why is Mangy Bore on the F1 calendar!!?!?!). Supposed to rain for quali and race for Silverstone but looking at the BBC forecast, no rain for quali and the race forecast is looking like being dry every time I check!!!

I got a call yesterday offering me some platinum corporate hospitality tickets for tomorrow. They arrived this morning and the itinery says that breakfast is served in our tent from 08:00 with the first race at 08:30. Having never been to Silverstone before, my question is what is the traffic like near the track at that time of the morning and what should I allow over and above the normal travel time to get parked up and into the venue for breakfast?

First of all DAMN YOU!!! :D

We were in there by 6am having left Bristol at 3am and gone to the Park and Ride to leave our car.
Never seen so many people wide awake at that time on a Sunday!

Am I just talking to myself in here today or have you all buggered off to Silverstone and abandoned me?

ITS RAINING!!!

First of all DAMN YOU!!! :D

Yeah, I'm pretty chuffed as it was completely out of the blue. Free food and drink all day long and seats in some sort of executive box on Copse. :D

I've got car park tickets for something quite close to the circuit I think so no parking and riding. Certainly the instructions tell you to walk from parking the car to the gate we have to go in.
