2008 British Grand Prix - Race 9/17

Erm yeah I thought he said how great the lap was and then noticed the tyres but didn't correct himself (?)

He did correct himself, just very quietly whilst stuttering in embarassment. Wonder if the BBC were listening? :)

If he did correct his rather retarded statement, I missed it. But I shall leave it there, since I was in the pub at the time and have drunk a reasonable amount.

Heikki has been fast all weekend, marginally quicker than Hamilton. In qualifying, I think Heikki had a great lap, while Hamilton had an ordinary lap, which compounded Heikki's speed advantage.

Lets see what Heikki can do in the race. He is primed to win it as he has the speed and positional advantage over Hamilton, while the Ferraris seem out of sorts.

There are no excuses this time.

Good Lord, sunama paying Heikki a compliment or two. What crazy, messed up parallel universe did I wake up in this morning???

Oh and that crazy suspension jumping on Rosberg's car was mad :D

Maybe the car had been taking notes from a great aunt - the active ride FW-14B ;) I'm sure active cars occasionally went like that when they malfunctioned (when they weren't just sticking one wheel right up in the air).

****edit****

I wonder if the team will ask HK to let LH past at some point in the race :o

Of course they will. This is the team that moaned like hell when Hamilton got his penalty in France for chicane-hopping, yet stayed silent when Kovy nearly got ran off the road by Trulli late in the same race....;)

All i will say is - 'Fuel Load'

I think Raikonnen is pretty happy to be where he is, i think (and hope ;)) he has more fuel onboard and so will be able to get them on the track.

Shame that Massa isnt there too, but oh well. Good on Heidfeld for getting it up there too, hoping for a good race from him.

saw the dust go up across the track and immediately turned to the big screen.... wait... wait... Hamilton :/

bugger!

I dont think so, watching the Ferraris yesterday they seemed to be having problems with the crosswinds. That was very evident at Becketts.

I think Ferrari have had problems with cross wind before (compared to the other teams)?

Race potential: Awesome!

Webber right in a mixer too. I love F1 at the moment, so close, and as they were saying the gap between all the cars really is diminishing.

On a side note, anyone see the tasty lasses in the red bull garage that we got a couple of shots of? ;) :D

As Knip says, leave very early, M1 (i'm assuming you'll go that way?) will be hell from 7 onwards.

Traffic was minimal from the M40 side. I sailed in at 8am, only queue was to get in the carpark once you got off the a43, and that moved steadily.

Completely hammered it down on the way up the m40 - didn't look good.
Was still raining on the way to the seats but stopped around 9am. Dryed out with the odd shower during porsche cup qualy (just when I was at copse trying to get shots down the pit straight as well - agh).
Dry until part way through q2, but it was nothing put a few drops.
Considering the dire weather forecasts, it all happened in the morning before 9am.

Awesome qualy session, well happy to see Heikki on pole. He's been putting in good lap times all weekend. Webber - what a surprise! That's just going to really mix things up.
The Ferraris just haven't looked good all weekend. They were looking very twitchy going around Stowe - quite blustery winds there.

An even more awesome GP2 race! Fantastic overtaking, all at Stowe as well! - great view from hanger straight stands.

crappy pictures to follow ....after I watch Dr. Who :)

I doubt Webber will be able to mix it with the McLarens or Ferraris. On the day, he will be a mobile road block, should he find himself in front of a McLaren or Ferrari. He will fight with Alonso and the BMWs though.

Its great to see the time differences being smaller. If we compare it to when Williams were at their peak, with Mansell qualifying around 2.5s faster than the next non-Williams car in 1992, it shows that the FIA's rules have brought everyone closer together.

Do you mean those teenage girls who have dyed their hair blonde and were drenched in make-up? I'm pretty sure I could look better than that if you gave me a wig and a good make-up job ;)

id be stoked if webber could win but i feel that kimi will pounce after the first set of stops and i think kovy might not fare well when leading a race

Careful now, I lived below one the one on the right for a year during my first year of uni, lovely girl.

But im sure you look great in a wig and make-up every weekend. :D

Here are my thoughts...

Hamilton was puzzled about where the time difference between him and Kova is right?

Lets not forget that it rained in Q2. The track wouldve been drying in Q3, thus each passing driver wouldve been making the track greener so to speak.

And who was the final driver to make his hotlap? Yep it was Kova.

I think Kova maybe lighter but he is 0.7 secs quicker than Hamilton. I think its a combination of being lighter and the track drying up.

But tbh... if Kova doesnt win it tomorrow, he really has no excuse. He has potentially the best car of the weekend, just like Hamiltons. If he doesnt win it, he will rate as just another Fisi or Barichello to me.

every time i see massa in the rain he always seems too cautious (unsettled) with the car and with the ferarris being very oversteery this weekend i think on wet tyres they will have a lot of problems

cue massa falling off the track :p

Y'all have said that pretty much every single race this year. Yet he's leading the championship - you'd have thought by now that folks would begin to realise that he's improved somewhat. Maybe I'm watching different races to the rest of you though.

no doubt he is improving but we havent seen that many wet races this season there are a rare breed of drivers that excell in the wet but i dont put massa in that group
i do however reckon he is one of the best at fighting through the field :)
