2008 Chinese GP - Race 17/18

Well wasn't expecting that from you JRS  Sometimes you post with your head but quite rarely you turn into a hot headed Massa.

Uh huh. If I post in a "hot headed" manner I've usually been provoked into it by a daft comment. There have been more than a few of them in recent times. And I'm sorry - but to say that Hamilton deliberately got the pitlane entry wrong in order to test out what would happen is daft. Ron apparently looked distinctly unimpressed when it happened - I'm pretty sure that if Hamilton had meant to do it, he would have cleared it with his team first.

It's not that unreasonable is it. Probability of a wet race exists and is quite high.

It wasn't a wet track that got him last time though, was it? Not was it going into the pits too quickly. It was simply that his tyres were completely buggered. He doesn't need to go around nearly having accidents in order to avoid that problem again....

LH probably wanted to test out that escape road and the reverse gear procedure. He said just the other day that he was reviewing Youtube clips of his mistake there last year. It is clearly on his mind. He probably kicks himself for not taking the escape road last year and reversing back - at least he would have only lost tops of 15 seconds.

He won't have that problem again. He will be strong enough to say "my tyres are shot, I'm coming in, y'all best be ready" and his team won't be dumb enough to let it get that far.

If he does have that problem again....well, it'll be proof that neither he nor McLaren deserve a title this year.

Alonso to take out Massa in the first corner....:p

Job done for Hamilton in Qualifying, will be tough tomorrow with his 3 biggest rivals right behind him. I hope Massa bins it into a wall ( un-injured ofcourse ) tomorrow, especially if it starts raining.
Some of his actions/comments lately have been shocking.

All I'll say is... I didn't intend to provoke anything. It was just a simple "I think..." comment. Take a chill pill.

And my reply was just a simple jab back at what sounded for all the world like fanboyish nonsense. Maybe we should both be taking those chill pills.

I've got no intention of falling out with you anyway, so lets kiss and make up :p

Looking good for Kimi to repay Lewis :p

Hopefully, Kimi needs some penalising.. aww, no he doesnt.. poor ol' kimi.. he looks so down in the dumps and then he speaks and although he always sounds the same you just want to give him a big hug and tell him to smile

And you've just reminded me, I was watching the qualifying this morning in bed, albeit mainly listening and drifting in and out of sleepy time. I had several F1 related dreams.

Kimi, binned it into a wall, immediately jumped out, threw his helmet off, pulled out a cigarette and lit up on the edge of the circuit. :D

The other was a rather spectacular crash from Alonso, who just decided it was faster to go straight over a corner instead of stick to the track.. :p

So, be careful when watching/listening to F1..

Heh. Very 'James Hunt', that.

***edit***

were does massa have to finish today for hamilton to win the WDC? providing hamilton first.

5 point gap as it stands, so if Hamilton wins then Massa must finish lower than 5th to make it an 11 point gap and therefore out of reach. Massa finishing 4th leaves a 10 point gap, and if Hamilton was to fail to score in Brazil and Massa won then Massa would take it on number of wins IIRC.

Oh also did anyone hear in the commentary how james allen compared the first two corners to the corkscrew at laguna seca.

If the tyre wamer ban goes through its stupid.

The technology is so cheap, just a bunch of electric sheets in which you can change the temperature. Not exactly hard.

Nick Heidfeld has been handed a three place penalty

Heidfeld gets three-place grid penalty

Nick Heidfeld has been handed a three-place grid penalty for the Chinese Grand Prix after the race stewards deemed he had impeded David Coulthard in qualifying.

Coulthard was furious after Q1 when Heidfeld slowed him down as the pair battled to get through to the second part of qualifying.

Afterwards the Red Bull Racing driver said: "He would have known he was in the top ten already, so for me it was very unsportsmanlike behaviour, as all he did was screw up my last flying lap - there wasn't any intention of him doing a quicker time."

The stewards took more than three hours to decide that Heidfeld had been guilty, and the penalty moves the German down to ninth on the grid.

"I have expressed my opinion about the incident. Now I will try tomorrow to do the best I can from P9," said Heidfeld.

If there is any reasonable amount of rain, the ferrari's will be lucky to get any points (as both BMW's will improve dramatically, Kovi wont be so far down either, and at least one Renault all likely to be ahead of the red cars) might actually make for an interesting race

edit - while I think DC's comments where a little harsh, Heidfeld deserved the penalty imo

didnt the maclarens get a 5 place for blocking?

Believe so. Evidence of further anti-McLaren bias, or just down to the fact that their incident in Malaysia was a tiny bit more dangerous? I'll leave that one for you to decide ;)
