2009 Ashes Series - England vs. Australia **Spoilers**

I wouldn't start counting chickens yet till the Aussies are 76/7 ;) If England can bat on this wicket then so can Australia.

Well, that's what I thought when we went in for our first innings - but we were all out for 160!

sporting a nice fat lip now
I went to England on holiday and all I got was this fat lip.

That's his new t-shirt. :D Not got a good record of recent Ashes series in England has Ponting. Keeps getting injured.

As much as it might stick in my throat, as an Englishman, Punter is a great cricketer. He often doesn't pad up when fielding short, and he took that one square in the grid, spat blood and got on with it. To then go up and shake Fred's hand is a measure of the man.
I don't like him but I respect him. He's one of the great batsmen to have played Test cricket.

It seems likely that this will be the last time we see him play in an Ashes series over here, and the game will be all the poorer for it.
Certainly. He's 34 now. Australia will be back in England for an Ashes in 2013? So he'd be 38 then. No chance. Probably Michael Clarke as captain then.

It isn't beyond the realms of possibility that he might still be playing at 38, is it? Steve Waugh played until that age for example.

Wow just how crap is the Aussie bowling...they let a spinner Swann get 63 before finally getting his wicket...utter utter rubbish...Clark has been rubbish as well...shouldnt have been picked for this match as the conditions dont suit him.

All round its been pretty pathetic from the Aussies both bowling and batting..although am hoping the Aussies do bat well in their second innings.

Cant see the Ashes being retained by the Aussies at the present time.....England have done a superb job of taking them apart but then thinking on the series...the Aussies havent been themselves...other than the last Test where they showed their old form...they have been decidedly average.

So there we go! 546 ahead, 2 days and half a session to bowl 'em out.

Great innings from Trott, especially coming in at what was it, 39-3? Twice now he's showed composure at crucial times, when Pietersen comes back we might even be look at quite a formidable batting line-up :o

Aye and Strauss seems to have hit some good form as well to make that three batters. Hope he develops some consistancy, something I've felt he's missed over the years.
