2010 F1 - Who goes where? Lineup and Teams

Agreed, would be suprised if they dumped Kubica.
Also, Kamui is not confirmed yet, so cant stick him in. Although, all signs point to it being a done deal..

Last I heard on the subject it's not so much Renault dumping him as apparently Kubica's contract has a clause allowing him to walk if the team is sold. Given that there are few available seats left and the structure of the Renault team is staying largely unchanged then unless Mercedes are lining him up I can't see why he would invoke this clause.

Not heard anything but you've got to think that Heidfeld is most likely.

Meh i hope not really, he maybe well liked by the team but his 09 season was a real disappointment (as was his 08 season really).

Wouldnt tip Villeneuve after his stint at the team really, so id only really hope Davidson scores the drive as team leader, but iv got a feeling thats a bit wishful

Great news about Kamui!

We have at least 1 main driver confirmed at all but USF1 now. Hopefully we get a flurry of announcments not before Christmas!

(Yes, i know about Kubica, but i really doubt he will walk/get dumped this late, with so few number 1 slots available)

I really don't get what the world has against Heidfeld. Twice out of the last 3 years he's been BMW's highest placed driver yet people still think the sun shines out of Kubica's backside.

I think a lot is hinging on the Schumacher/Merc deal. If it doesnt go ahead then Heidfeild will end up in the 2nd Merc seat. If Schumacher does come back, then i think he will probably be signed up by Sauber.

wouldn't be suprised if Sauber have already offered him a drive but Heidfeld is playing the waiting game, only really has to hold out a few more days now until Merc make their announcement on the 2nd driver/Schumacher situation.

Its not looking good for USF1 though, not much talent left to pick from now, Piquet maybe with a lot of money?

Heidfeld is an awesome 2nd driver. You can absolutely depend on him to keep his nose clean, get the car to the end of the race and pick up points but he never seems to show the ultimate pace required to lead a team and challenge at the front.

I would have thought they would want at least 1 US driver?

I do reckon Piquet is a good buy for someone though. He has a good few races under his belt, and will have offer himself out cheap! Deserved or not, he is tainted goods.

He would probably only ever command a second driver role if he did get a seat. That may change in future if he can redeem himself though. If you believe his side of the Renault story, he never had equal equipment or opportunity...

Can you trust Piquet (or if some of the stories are true - his father)?

I cant see it being worth the gamble - but you never know
