thats stange, im sure we only had local election forms, i mean it had the names of our local mp on them,

That's a parliamentary election ballot paper then. Everyone should be able to vote for who represents them in parliament today - apart from in one constituency where one of the leading candidates died, and so the election in that constituency has been postponed.

In local elections you elect councillors for your local council.

Given that they're showing 16 hours continuous coverage, it'd get a bit boring if they didn't. :/

Boring? With Fiona Bruce? HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST SUCH A THING :p.

I'd be happy for them to have a camera focussed on her for a few hours with various computer generated results beamed onto her body...

[creepyness] Mmmmm [/creepyness]

If nothing else this election is showing up the perversities of the UK electoral system, it cannot be allowed to continue this way effectively denying swathes of the population representation.

The system needs reform, the question is how. PR gives better representation but weaker governments, and will make it more prone to backroom dealings rather than people power. FPTP gives stronger governments but arguably disenfranchises some people, however it also makes it easier for the public to force a change of government.

PR would be the end of the three current parties as they splinter into smaller groups.

I would like to see voting reform along with constitutional reform personally.

Police called to a bunch of polling stations in Sheffield and a few other places to move on people that haven't been able to vote. Could get interesting if it's a close one.

Hmm now thats something that would defo make this election coverage a bit more interesting! Is there an entry poll lol

EDIT: Fiona bruce having the cgi beamed onto her body I mean lol

That's really bad. But they have had all day, as long as the doors weren't closed until 2200 hrs then they have no room to grumble.

LOL, people whining that they left it until gone 9pm to vote but then couldn't because of the large queue.

How about getting off your arse earlier in the day

Excuse my ignorance, haven't followed elections enthusiastically till recently, but how does the number of 326 seats make the majority vote?
Does it have to be a bigger number of seats than labour and libdems added together? Labour and libdems exit poll numbers are 255 and 59 which is 314.
Or bigger than labour and libdems and others together? :o

650 seats total, majority is more than 50%

so people have to work till 7 or 8, and anyways i read a lot of the people turned away at 10 were waiting over 3 hours.

Why you should watch the BBC coverage: Emily Maitlis, Sophie Rayworth and Fiona Bruce.

Could someone kill Jeremy Vine with his swingometer so we get some more crumpet time?
