Ok i'm a bit of a Ford fanboy so here's my comment.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

It's a cross between the new Astra, a C'eed and the new Fiesta. I ****ing hate the vertical air vents which ALL cars seem to be getting now. It just looks utter crap.

Ford, you are truly disappointing us. /ferrero rocher

I'm hoping this is an Auto Express fake photoshopped mock up POS.

So it's a better looking KIA Cee'd with a decent interior. I like it, although it looks like a squashed 4x4 attempt? Looking forward to seeing the ST guise.

IMO they have ruined the Ford Focus, this new one looks terrible especially from the back, it looks like a damn estate. Looks too much like the new Ford Fiesta which also looks worse than the previous one, the only decent new car which is better than the last from Ford is the KA - and even that looks like a Peugeot now. Way to go Ford!:(

This is the most 'meh' looking car Ford has ever produced, jeez, could it get any more bland than this?

It does look like a dodgy photoshop though tbh. In the first pic the handles line up with the crease line, in the second they don't.

well done.

Thank you.

The front end of the current Focus looks good, particularly the head lights which are slanty, teardrop/Z-like and purposeful, tapering in a tightly designed nose.

So why did they ruin the design by sticking blob headlights on this and lose the tautness of the front end design around the grille??? It looks like a Kia C'eed from the front, and they've even copied the vertical air vents: http://www.easycarblog.com/wp-content/gallery/14_july_2009-kia-ceed/2010-kia-ceed-1.jpg From a design perspective, the 'triangles' on the bumper aren't in sympathy with any other shapes or lines at the front of the car. If you were a design student you'd get a Grade 'E' for producing something containing triangles and circles.

The shape of the current Fiesta is superb. Again, purposeful, modern, and cohesive with a with a nicely tapering front end and sculpted flanks. Very stylish and in no way gimmicky. a lot of design confidence running through the Fiesta.

Nice to see that Fiesta profile at least in part, following through into some of the side profile of the new Focus. So how did they manage to bodge the front end into some bland mess, and also have weird gimmicky Peugeot 3008 rear lights that look like a paintball splat?

Ford is capable of great cohesive design - witness the Iosis, Puma Racing, and the current Fiesta. It just seems that 95% of the time when they're on the cusp of great overall design, they have a crisis of confidence when it comes to the production stage and end up making a pig's ear out of a sow's purse.

I quite like that, agree with the comment about the handbrake position, could be a bit awkward.

Yeah in the Mk2 they never managed to switch it to the right side for RHD models, I do hope so with this

OMFG...it's a Kia Ceee'd

They've ruined the headlights, the rear lights are ridiculous, and it doesn't look purposeful anymore from on.

For once I agree with MarkDavis :p the front end is fine, not amazing, but the rear :0

Seeing as that's the American 2011 Focus, I expect to see some tweaks to make the car more suited for the European market.

We've been told that's pretty much Euro spec, the US spec has orange bits in the front lamps. The only thing which would change are very very minor tweaks like the chrome in the grill.

To add to the fail, (and you'll notice I dont normally **** off Ford vehicles...) look here

http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/detroit-2010-next-gen-ford-focus/#27

Notice the easily accessible DCT shift toggle on the shifter :( Where the paddles at bro?!

On a second note, I read that the 3-Door will have a slightly different design, possibly in a similar vein of Renault's Megane 3-Door. I have high hopes for this. 5-door variants always seem boring to me.

New astra imo looks much better, at least they didn't just take an existing bodyshell and enlarge it.

It looks very much like the new Astra in my opinion. How has the new Astra been received? Looks interesting but have heard nothing apart from Vauxhall claiming record breaking sales. :o
