2011 Weight Loss Thread!

I'm getting on the "2011 Weight Loss" bandwagon. Joining a gym this year which has 24/7 access which I think will be easier as I can go at less busy times, e.g. 21:50 instead of posting on forums :P

I need to get on the bike more in the left hand side of shot too, please excuse the super tired/ginger haired/unshaven look.

Currently weigh between 22.5 and 23 stone / 145kg and am 6ft 4 tall.

Finally back to being under 21st, I'm now sitting at 20st 13lb and aim to be 19st something by end of May beginning of June.

The main goal is to hit 18st something by September 1st for a Florida holiday.

17st @5"10.5, 38"trousers, 46"chest.

Once I finish off my last four cans of beer, one pot noodle and one discovery chilli con carne sauce jar I will hopefully start on my path to kick the pounds (Dinner and lunch tomorrow really). Want to get down to under 14st I guess.

I am just really sick of being the literal elephant in the room. I already have a gym membership which I infrequently use. The main issue for me is that my knees are shot: they click and groan almost always when I stand up, so cardio will be things like rowing, cycling and swimming (swimming when I get home for the summer).

I just hope a huge increase in fruit and veg intake, removal of alcohol and regular exercise will give me a bit of motivation in life, a kick up the backside and a want to actually succeed.

I reckon I will throw up some pictures soonish...

Looking at some of the pictures of you lot in here, you don't look particularly obese. I'm "only" 18.5 stone but my belly looks massive in comparison. You must all be muscly whereas I'm totally blobby. :D

And that guy who had a heart attack. Blimey! It's all a bit scary isn't it. I plan on starting running this coming week to lose some flab. Hope I don't keel over after 2 laps.

I wouldn't want to put a picture up of me topless, put it that way lol

In the above picture I was around 23st, but I'm a big built guy as it is, I wear 42" waist trousers, 52" jackets and buy all my t-shirts in XXL.

If you want to lose weight hit the weights. It isn't necessarily about bulking up. If you do weights and fix your diet you can lose weight and gain definition far more effectively than running on a treadmill. A decent weights regime can burn far more calories, coupled with the fact that a higher muscle mass raises basic metabolism.

The beauty of weight-lifting is once you see progress you naturally go the extra mile to achieve your results through the intensity of your workouts and your diet, both of which are key for progress. From my experience, I can't say the same about running. You get a great feeling during and afterwards but improving your minute mile in my opinion is not as rewarding as pressing an extra 2KG, for example.

Also a healthy lifestyle/diet throughout the week should enable you to go out and get annihilated (or even a cheeky Dominos) on Friday nights without too much consequence :D

Baked beans, half a ton of salt in them, I dont added salt to any of my food and always check sodium content, just as bad as sat fats

You lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks, thats impossible just from eating.

I have lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks eating healthy, had a a cheat meal a week and a few pints, been exercise running/rowing/cycling/swimming and lifting weights, feel stronger and fitter.

If you're quite active then salts not really a major issue as you will lose a lot through sweating, many active people actually eat too little as they don't add it to any food as it's "unhealthy" but then sweat a load out and a stone in your first 2 weeks of dieting is very easy especially if you cut right down on carbs as each gram of glycogen holds 3 grams of water iirc could be 2 grams either way as you deplete your glycogen stores you also lose large amounts of water and therefore weight.

I'm 5'11" and weight 17st. A year ago I was 19st, a simple diet change lost me those 2 stone, I cut out the crisps and other unhealthy snacks, I also rarely drink alcohol. It had to be done as I'm a type 1 diabetic, which also makes losing weight a little more difficult as you have to maintain blood-sugar levels, change insulin dosage, etc.

I had to change the type of insulin I inject recently, so I took the opportunity to adjust my diet along with it, I'm now basically eating 2 bowls of cereal, and 1 other meal a day (my diet is essentially ALL carbs, I have little choice). I'm also starting to do some exercise every other day. I'm hoping to lose 1 stone by around late summer.

Started a diet in November and as of last Tuesday have lost 7 stone on the dot ( was 23 stone 10). Just started to excercise and joined a gym. Got 2 stone 10 to go and ill hit my goal weight.

I don't have any scales to weigh myself.:(

I know I'm overweight so have started running. Haven't ran since school at least 4 years ago. Made just over a mile today. :)

Definitely keeping it up to get to be able to do a few more in one go. :)

Replacing snacks with fruit/brown bread.

Im 6'1" and at th ebeginning of last week was 15stone

Have not had a drink since, and have eaten very healthily since, am now 14st 8 :)

Just need to get into the excersise bit now, ideally want to be back down to around 13stone and lose the beer gut :)

Could you put a pic up? Weird request but I don't know what 15st looks like and don't have any scales to measure myself. I think I'm around where you are now.:)

I have been doing swimming for the last few weeks, around 30 lengths a day, but I am also now trying to sort out the old diet, as the problem out here is that the fresh fruit and veg is horrific (last time I ate an apple the thing turned brown after one bite, so they are not exactly appetising).

To be honest its hard going really, especially when the take away food out here tends to be around the same price as cooking it all yourself, been trying to ween myself onto the curry house as its at least a little bit healthy though.

I've lost 2st so far since January, kinda fell off the wagon over easter and haven't really been eating healthy but have only put on 3-4lb so not too bad.
