2013 Le Mans 24 Hours

There's no regulation that specifies they have to use the hybrid power at particular times. Toyota are leaving the pits on the capacitor power but that's through choice.

They are limited on where they can collect energy and the discharge is usually on the exit of those corners.

Audi are using a flywheel hybrid system and I think it might spin down in the time it's in the pits. Might be wrong on that, but I remember there was a mention on Midweek Motorsport some time back about why Audi don't leave the pits on hybrid power. The reason they can only use their hybrid system in restricted places compared to the Toyota is because their car counts as 4wd because the hybrid system drives the front wheels. The Toyota conforms to slightly different rules because it's a true 2wd because their supercapacitor system drives the rear wheels, same as the engine.

Anyone in for the long haul tonight?

Errr.... That corvette was filing up with smoke, so they shut the doors and wheel him back into the garage.

I'm sure the driver loved that...

During the pit stops I've noticed sometimes they open the drivers door and appear to move or change something like a large label/luggage tag near the back of the seat/pillar.

Any ideas what it actually is and for?

From the official feed: "02h22 : Driver Anthony Burgess safely out of the heavily damaged Lola No.30" :)
