2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying 7/8/11 September *** Spoilers ***

You see, this dribbling and skill doesn't mean anything if its not used effectively. Lallana is a good, but he slows down play at times when trying to beat a man, when the simpler option is to pass past the guy your trying to beat. To be honest he seems like another Theo Walcott, he's so one dimensional Theo, he's got bags of ability physically and technically but he just doesn't read football. Have a watch on youtube about Pilkington, the guy is seriously talanted, naturally both footed as well.

Edit, ive only seen Lallana a few times really, obviously i cant really comment as i would need to watch him week in week out, day in day out to have a proper idea of whether he's good. But it's only from what ive seen, he seems to miss the obvious at times. Obviously as a professional you need to be doing the basics correct 99% of the time, and he doesnt do it for me.

:mad: Bit in bold is as close to the most horrific comparison in football as possible!

Theo is rubbish, well established fact of football. Lallana really isn't.

In fairness this season Lallana only got to play out on the left properly against Man United which is why he hasn't been the most talked about player in the universe since the season started.

The real point is his dribbling and skill are on the ball are amazing, he brings bags to the team in creating and facilitating attacking movements, the only real left down is sometimes his decision making between pass and shoot is sometimes a little off (wasting a few chances).

Sadly the highlights of Ipswich away last season are probably the best demonstration of how well he can read a football match, he plays a roll in the build up of the first 2 goals and scores the 4th and 5th, both are as a result of decent passes from the team and him making excellent runs. I do rate Pilkington at lot, when Norwich signed him I agreed with many people that he was the person to snap up out of L1, but Lallana is a better player (in my view) and really should be playing for England already because he solves a massive problem England have, which is the left side of midfield.

Next biggest crime is overlooking Holt and Lambert due to England's complete lack of strikers...

Point taken, i'm only basing it off the Man City and Man U games i watched live. Yeah, Holt should be given a chance, perhaps the friendly will be a decent time, no doubt Hodgson will overlook him tho..

Score predictions? 2-0

Yeah its frustrating watching players being overlooked for few sensible reasons...

I think 3-2, we will score early, go down to 2-1 at half time then bring it back with some cheap goal at the end...

3-2...ooff! Always thought England were better at the back than upfront, recently anyway.

Edit, would like to see this Lallana play tonight then, him left, Oxade right instead of Milner. I know Hodgson likes Milner out right to cover Johnson but were at home, live a little Roy!! :p

Will Hodgson bother to put Milner in a central midfield role after it become noticeably apparent that Milner plays better there than on the wings? Obviously his options aren't as good with Walcott out, but why not use Lennon?!!? It's so long overdue. Also Chamberlain looked better coming from the middle than the left as CAM, looking at the past few matches where he has played.

The best we looked in a while was just before Milner scored against Moldova - with the build up and passing around/inside the box. We actually looked like a team.

Seems like most of the players haven't been put in their best positions yet while playing for England.

Ha! Think we will just be complacent and foolish making a massive mistake.

Lallana on the left, Chamberlain on the right would be reliving the glory days :D Doubt Roy would do that though...

Best position for Milner tonight is on the bench.

Nah left back at home where he cannot be an option for the game...

BREAKING TEAM NEWS - England v Ukraine (20:00 BST)
England boss Roy Hodgson makes one change from the team which won 5-0 in Moldova, as Everton's Phil Jagielka comes in for the injured John Terry.

Serbia 1 - 0 Wales (Kolarov, DFK curled over wall)

Pity - they started quite well, too.

Am I right in thinking that every goal conceded by Wales so far in these WCQs has been from a set piece?
