As i said yesterday, it was going to be a goalfest and it was with England scoring 8 past San Marino.

With predicitions like that I'm surprised you haven't won the lottery by now! :p

:p well it didnt take a genius to say that England would have a goalfest against the lowly San Marino:p

Looks like the Northern Ireland game against Russia has again been postponed due to snow and bad weather.

I said it in the build up to Euro2012 and I'll say it again now - absolutely sick to the back teeth of the whole Rio Bloody Ferdinand debate. I really feel for Hodgson / hate the press on this one, all the media seem to care about is Rio for one reason or another but he's got a squad of players who ARE playing he wants to focus on. Same happened last time, the story should have moved on to "lets talk about Ox being in the Euro squad" not "oh you've left Rio out please can we spend 30mins talking about that".

I bet he wishes he hadn't picked him now, literally can't win, if he picks him he gets 50 questions about Rio, if he doesn't pick him he gets 50 questions about Rio, if England beat someone 50-0 he'll get 50 questions about Rio.

Yes perhaps he didn't help himself with the whole Tube incident but jesus christ can we (media not this forum) just put the story to bed and talk about ****ing football for once.

After the whole way that Hodgson dealt with the initial not picking of Rio over 'footballing reasons' I wouldn't be surprised if Rio was a bit miffed.

However, the real reason will be because SAF wants to keep him for the run in and the FA Cup so will have put a stop to it, despite Rio will most certainly have wanted to play.

The press are scum, but Hodgson was an idiot for creating the story in the first place by leaving Rio out of the 2012 squad for no good reason.

He was then an even bigger idiot by creating yet another story by asking him to play in this squad.

The only thing Rio has done wrong is not coming out and telling Roy to go **** himself in public.

Personally I thought Hodgson dealt with that extremely professionally in spite of constant hounding from the media. He gave the reason he wasn't picked (not that he should have to) and then said he wanted to talk about players who WERE in the squad.

As for Rio being miffed, Hodgson spoke to him personally to explain his decision and any professional should accept the decision whilst understandably being disappointed (as any international who doesn't make the cut would be). As Roy himself said "He [Rio] was obviously disappointed. I'd be surprised had he not been. He was very gracious and he wished myself and the team the very best of luck in the tournament."

Like HangTime, I'm finding the whole Ferdinand stuff tedious too.

I think it's obvious (and understandable) that Hodgson felt it was best to only pick one of Terry or Ferdinand for the WC and whether you agree with him or not, he went with Terry. It shouldn't have been that big of a surprise either; Hodgson prefers Terry type CB's to Ferdinand types (the same reason why he would pick Carra and Skrtel over Agger at Liverpool), there were doubts over Ferdinand's ability to play regularly and people seem to have forgotten that Ferdinand was being left out towards the back end of Capello's days too.

If Ferdinand's telling the truth about his fitness schedule preventing him from playing in these Internationals then why would anybody expect him to have been picked for the WC as he's clearly not capable. And if it's bs (which it most likely is) then he's acted like a total **** and media whore with his constant interviews and quotes, claiming he'd never turn England down.

It's unfortunate, maybe even harsh on Ferdinand but nobody has a divine right to play for England, which Ferdinand doesn't seem to understand.
