2017 car launches

That's one of my favourite cars of the past decade (and probably since the MP4-20). I don't even mind the thumb-nose or the shark fin. It's bonkers and beautiful. Though the front-view of the mad air-box is odd, from the 3/4 view I love it.

The overalls are some of my least favourite... ever.

Seems to me like a lot of ideas from Merc creeping in. Fatter air boxes, the channels in the airbox look very similar to Merc's from last year. The wide upper body at the rear while undercutting underneath that is something Merc started and people seem to be slowly following.

The Williams looks troubling to me, obviously it's just a rendering(afaik) and they could change it significantly but it looks so basic, they have the very narrow rear end not the undercut type design, the airbox seems fairly piddly, it doesn't seem to have changed that much. But it was already a very very basic design that simply wasn't competitive in a design sense. It got them a lot of points primarily because the other big teams had major problems and none of the other teams really had the budget to get close to them. FI did a lot more with less once they fixed their wind tunnel problems. Renault's budget has increased hugely, likely well past Williams and the engine will no longer be holding RBR or TR back.

The simplicity of the design, the lack of evolution while so many other teams look set to take a leap forward makes me think Williams will be behind everyone but Sauber, even then, we'll see.

It may be some trick photography. A nose that thin for the full length might have issues in passing crash tests, or it would have to be much more dense than the original (so heavier?). I'm guessing, but it would be quite radical! Not sure about the aero benefits, although a thinner nose might have other aero benefits over the obvious lower frontal profile.

I am not an expert by any shape or form, but it looks interesting either way?

could be blacked out to hide it like some teams did when the knob noses were around a few years back, blacked out the appendage and took shots on a dark background to hide it haha

There is no other way to describe the nose other than to call it a gentleman's sausage! it looks awful. Lets hope its an interim step and they hope to get rid of the two side posts at some point.
