2017 Chilli Growing - feel the burn!

I've planted 5 each of:

Aji limon
Apache
Golden cayenne
Joes long
Long slim cayenne
Ring of fire
Serrano
Super chilli
Cherry bomb

All from seeds from South Devon Chilli Farm.

I've had 4 or 5 germinate from each of them, except joes long (0), golden cayenne (1), and long slim cayenne (2). Might pop a few extra of those in and see if I can get some late ones going.

They are coming along nicely and are about ready to be moved to their first pots.

Ive got 4 Hungarian hot wax going, but my others all refusing to germinate :( (cayenne, cherry bomb, red and orange habs)

Im even trying to germinate some nagas you sent me about 4 years ago nick, I used some the first season rest I held, as I haven't grown any for a few years due to moving and a few other issues I am trying old seeds, seems they are just too old so may be a bad year for me this year
Allotment sorted and a planned poly tunnel as well :( for maxing output

Yup, I would have thought that 4 years may be too long for the seeds :/

I'll be going light - with perhaps a couple of plants. Not started yet due to other commitments but something not too hot so they will take less time.

The sunfowers (3rd generation) have already started.. so I'm way behind this year :/

One thing to try is put them in the fridge for a night - in case they need a cold cycle. Not tried it myself but just in case?!

I cheated a bit this year, started in December under LED lighting, culled loads of weak ones and left with 6 that are covered in fruit! No superhots, I'm over that phase, I'd rather have very edible strains now, hottest I've got is Cherry bomb and jalepenos.

I will pick up some hotter varieties from Frosts in a couple of weeks for the greenhouse, if i fancy it, if not it will be more sweet peppers.

photos later!

Going to give them 1 more week, some of them do have that glossy swelled kind of look so there is a chance (they are in the moist tissue paper in sealed container approach)
All I need is 1 of each to grow so I can harvest some new seeds.

Do you still have the original naga strain going? If so I may beg for some new seeds end of season ready for next year :)

I would but have a habit of skiing in March and this makes keeping small plants happy for a week left alone a little tricky

Few bad pics to get the ball rolling:

Its cramped in there now, I have a large poly tunnel outside but I'm unsure its warm enough at night yet to move them out.

Mine are coming along nicely.. After one of the cats knocked the first lot of seedlings off the window sill and killed them!

I've not gone for anything ridiculous this year, just ones that I will use in cooking. I've tried to limit the number of plants this year too as I don't want to be overrun again. I've got Tabascos, Habaneros, Jalapenos, Cayennes and Basket of Fire.

I#m always careful not to overdo it now, 2013 I had around 50 plants and it was so time consuming to look after them all.

Yeh, I got told off last year as I went over board and took over the house! Of the 14 I've got, I'll keep the stronger ones and give some of the others away to people when they get a bit bigger.

I didn't get around to planting any seeds this year so I shall be on the look out for decent plants in my local garden centres to get caught up a bit. Hoping to grow scotch bonnet and supper chillies if anywhere has them.

Got some Aji Lemon's, Orange Habs and Apache F1 seeds coming along nicely.

Going to need to pot some of them off shortly out of the propagator as they are coming up fast!

Tried a few years ago and got a plentiful crop but no heat but that was using seeds from supermarket Serrano chillies. Not organised this year so cheated and ordered a couple of plants online (South Devon Chilli Farm) and getting 1 x Apache (80,000) and 1 x Purple Tiger (5000) and see where we go from there! :)
