2019 NFL Season Thread

On another note, of the drafted QB's after an initial impressive game Murray stunk in his second game, Haskins looks decidedly sketchy but Jones up in NY... it's only one game but after the negative press, despite my giants hate, I almost hope he proves us wrong as he looked damn good in the opener.

Edit: 11 of 14 and a TD last night, it's pre-season etc but I'm impressed so far.

This reminds of a story. I was sitting at a local bar about a year ago and there was some out of town blowhard sitting next to me. You know the type, overweight, bald "ladies man". He starts to chat me up and the conversation gets around to football. He then tells me that there is a company in Calif. that has developed a helmet that will prevent 100% of all concussions and the NFL is trying to bury them. So I ask him if he knows what causes a concussion and he mumbles something. I said no, concussions are caused by the brain being slammed into the skull... how does any helmet prevent that? He becomes very sullen and decides to go back to trying to impress the bartender. :D

There's always one like that :p

Loads of trade rumours bouncing round the league at the minute, still interesting that Clowney is being touted and apparently a few teams fishing for the Dolphins tackle Tunsil. Even a rumour of Dalton being on the trade block when (let's be honest, it isn't an if) the Bengals drop out of contention as Findlay has been so impressive they want him in the lineup. Could even see the Bengals forcing a tank if it gets really tough this year and trying to salvage value from both Green and Dalton and picking high and often.

Also Allen gives the Jags an edge on the D again, he was touted more as a pass rusher and I know it was pre season but hes been looking hot on the run D as well. If Bosa continues having injury problems could look like another dud Niners D pick especially if Allen slipped past them.

Tunsil off to Texans from Dolphins. Feel sorry for Rosen, any chance he had of proving himself had just be unceremoniously lobbed out the window now with their line.

Great addition to Texans and makes them a lot more viable but still think they've lost out on the Clowney trade only getting a third as they've apparently given up a first for for Tunsil and they are an ageing squad...

got to feel for rosen, one of the main requirments for an oline is a tackle to protect a qb's backside and they let tunsil go, didn't they see what happened to watson last season without one ?

texans messed up all ways with this trade roundabout, letting clowney go for a 3rd ???, i know watson needed a left tackle brought in after he got battered so badly last season, but as you say the squad isn't getting any younger and giving away all those picks away to do it..........

I could have understood it if they got a third for Clowney and moved it on for Tunsil, but taking a third and giving away a first is just straight up weird. Genuinely no idea what was going through O'Brien's head in agreeing to the trade as it didn't/wasn't a factor in getting Tunsil.

As I said I think they've made themselves into a win now team without the talent to win now, odd.

Yeah Rosen, I'm pretty certain he isn't a top 10 QB but I firmly believe he could have been an NFL starter but he was in a dumper fire Cards team and was blamed for the problems and now moved to the Dolphins who will possibly be even worse than that Cards team and they'll almost certainly get a new QB in next year's draft (though they now have no Oline to protect that QB either) I can see him being labelled as a backup his career now without ever having a fair chance at proving himself. I said it in the off season I genuinely think the Pats should be after him as a backup and give him 3 years to learn behind Brady before unleashing him, be a shrewd move.

He will get paid top money, but not due to Dak, more the NFL in general.

There is no 'average QB' money anymore. QBs either get paid top money, or backup money with no middle ground.

Dak is good but not great, I would put him alongside the likes of Wentz, Garappolo and Carr, and they all got paid more than they are worth purely due to their age and the increasing salary cap.

I think Dak will end up with a contract of $30m a year plus.

Jakey Biscuit just got an average QB contract, 15 mill a year puts him about 15th-20th. He's got a lot more to prove than Dak but the contracts do exist.

Tbf, a young Pro Bowl QB should get paid though...

He's a weird one. His first season he looked truly terrible. I remember watching as some of his passes bounced off the dirt, yards away from receivers. Then last year, I remember him hitting such a perfect pass into the corner of the endzone, on the move, over two DB's... one of the best passes I remember seeing recently.

Goff is weird, at times he looks amazingly elite, others he looks painfully average (like the Superbowl)

The money... Well you would struggle to get better than him without tanking so he's probably worth it.

i think its more to do with mcvays scheme than goff, not saying he doesn't make good throws, but his overall game doesn't inspire me with confidence.

he was always going to get paid after what we gave up for him.

will be interesting to see how that goes, him and winston

His game management needs to develop, saying that he came into the.league really young so he has time.

I reckon Winston will get an extension as they've just gave the GM who drafted him a new contract so unless he's a dumpsters fire this year he's getting a new contract.

Hooooooooooo boy, being reported AB got physical with Mayock and players had to break them up. Being reported at the minute they may suspend him for "conduct detrimental to the team" allowing them to reclaim his 30 mill guaranteed payments and terminate his contract.

They guy is a ******* fruit loop :D

I can't believe this!

Maybe the whole thing was an act when he realised the Raiders were going to be a car crash. Maybe he's rainman level intellect and has just played the entire NFL like a fiddle :p

No chance it will happen but would love him to suit up tomorrow and get a 100+ yards and a TD or two against the Steelers :D
