would you prefer that Boris was still PM compared to Truss?
I'm actually not sure... possibly?

Fundamentally blaming the opposition & public opinion for who the Tories voted in and the actions of this new cabinet just highlights how undemocratic the current system can be. The Tories have exploited this to get a more extreme government not even pretending to do the things they claimed they would do at the last election. I think my biggest objection to your interpretation is just how undemocratic it is.

You guys wanted Boris out, you knew there wouldn't be a General Election, what did you all expect would happen?

The answer is fairly simple, the only way this fits Conservative ideology is that they're pinning all of their hopes on accelerated growth to compensate to enable committed spending. Should be some interesting times ahead.

Yep so simple dowie couldnt answer it and was his usual obtuse self :p
Also, the level of tax cuts on high earners is ridiculously funny!

I can feel something trickling down already ;)

I did answer you though, but you're too simple-minded and don't pay attention to what has been said. I was quite clear that other parts weren't conservative but rather I was commenting on the tax cuts and removal of the bonus cap that was being discussed in this thread.

Yeah, I don't know why Dowie can't give straight or sensible answers.

How is stating that I'm referring to the tax cuts and the removal of the bonus cap not a straight answer? What is it you're unable to understand about that?

It's a bit ironic given that you frequently dodge giving a straight answer when cornered with some bluffing along the lines of "but I'm a tax consultant so can't elaborate further as my special knowledge might be used for crime".

Hardly, it's pretty basic strategy.

Thanks though, that hilarious comparison has given me a chuckle at its absurdity.

To confirm though, you do believe there's a high level conspiracy within the UK government where they're deliberately undermining the country in order to benefit their Russian allies? This is literally what you've described.

Next time there's a Labour government I hope you're nice to them in case you end up hounding the leader out and Corbyn gets elected as leader. And if Corbyn's in charge you'd better be nice to him too in case a literal Stalinist takes his place.

See how ridiculous and undemocratic this line of reasoning is?

Don't know what else to say lol.

I'm not necessarily sure a general election is required, but considering the complete change of government and clear change in policies (which is proving rather unpopular) there should have been one. Maybe you'd listen to Jacob Rees Mogg, who argued strongly that an election should take place if Boris stepped down.

Why are most of you against tax cuts? Is this not a good move for us all? Is there anyone who really likes to pay huge tax?

Well not when it's properly costed and in a period of record inflation which will only add fuel to the fire

1) I was talking about you and not to you.
2) Refusing to answer is not dodging, particularly being explicit about the fact I won't answer and WHY I feel that way. You may not like the answer but tough *******.

Because we need to fund the country properly.

One small example:

Use taxation to fund social care properly.

Then with the investment, you would be able to free up beds in the NHS taken up by old people who can't be discharged.

That cuts waiting times, which saves lives.

What's the point in us having extra money if you could die in an accident when there's no ambulances to get to you?
