Well that's going to go down as one of the worst days in British politics, the aftermath is going to be so destructive we don't even realise it yet. What he delivered there today is a massacre.

They'll be crucified to resignation hopefully

Nail. Head.

Hilarious, I guess at least he's got something substantial to rant about since Brexit... He really does love to argue things in bad faith though, form the youtube clips I've seen they seem to let through the dumbest callers as patsys for him to rant at but anyone with half a point will get shouted, interrupted at or cut off. He doesn't even attempt to understand the positions he's arguing against or at least pretends not to, he just feigns disbelief.

He's absolutely correct though isnt he. They dont let through the dumbest callers and i say that a someone who has listened to LBC for years. The fact that no Tory MP will appear on his show should speak volumes.

We’ll see if there’s an emergency Bank of England meeting on Monday to put interest rates up again.

I retract my like. He’s 100% correct and you’re just searching for a reason to dismiss him because confronting the fact that he’s right would require you to be critical of a conservative government.

Normality has resumed… All is right with the universe.

Yeah, normality has resumed, Gordy R has started arguing against stuff he's come up with himself...

The trouble is the huge bonuses linked to performance encourage risk taking as suddenly there is something personal in it for the trader if the risk comes off. The timing of it really stinks as well, if the country was booming and everyone was doing well then fair enough but really this just looks like another reward for the well off and a slap in the face for the rest. Of all the things announced today it is the least ridiculous but that’s like saying that of all the ways to die drowning is the best…

Yes agree on this - so personally having some link to performance (today's announcement) is far better than the Labour (no link to performance), but don't disagree they could be smarter with it. I know there's threshold amounts where you've got to pay based on 5-7 years deferment which helps avoid risk taking you describe - sure there's more they could do.

Have to say, think most people are falling for the spin on this though - ie why would Truss an ounce this today? (Look at culture wars game)

Falling for rhe spin. Perhaps the spinning wheels of the taxis driving the BoE to their emergency meeting next week is what people can hear?

Not sure I see any fiscal connection between the two, but yes this broader budget is bizarre if you're just talking about wider point!

But that's not this thread....

The fiscal connection was made by Truss and her mates whilst setting the budget.

An emergency budget, why are bankers bonuses an emergency item?
Tbf if Frankfurt takes our banking industry the whole country is screwed.
