2024 OLED bonanza take your pick from dozens of new monitors

Its very subjective, I'm extremely sensitive to it and I can tell the difference between every notable HZ increase, 60, 120 240 360 etc. My gf can't even notice the difference between 144hz and 60hz

Yeah I’d agree with this, mainly play FPS games these days (time allowing) and going from 60Hz to 240Hz was incredible but testing I find it very hard to tell the difference going from 144Hz to 240Hz. Think I’d be content with 144Hz for FPS.

I’m wondering if OLED is ok for both office work and gaming. I connect my work laptop to my gaming TN 240Hz panel for more screen space and find it easy enough on the eyes for a days work but have read that common opinion is that OLED isn’t suitable for home office type use/word etc.

What are people’s opinions on using an OLED for home office and gaming?

I use my ASUS oled for gaming and working from home. I was a little nervous about using in for office work but encountered no problems with it at all. Used for about 6 months now.

Uniform brightness (ASUS specific feature?) is brilliant for office work.

MSI switch with usbc and the kvm as well as a fanless design has the best specs but not sure of just me but the monitor frame/bezel just looks terrible and not premium. Alienware do a much better job.

Not been hearing good things about the firmware on the Alienware 32" model but the 27" is apparently amazing, for anyone keeping tabs on these monitors.

Shame no one has their hands on the MSI model, purchasing blind on this one, and I also mistakenly thought it could do 480hz 1080p but QD OLED doesn't support that.

Mixed it up with the Asus 4K Monitor in my head, regardless I'll love to try it out at 4K, the estimated arrival date disappeared for the pre order, so may miss it's initial window from the looks of things.

May end up cancelling it, if the 27" MSI 360hz model drops and the 4K one doesn't at the same time, as I'm a very impatient buyer (especially when it's for pre orders where the money is taken in advance)

I suspect MSI are flying these over instead of shipping @Personality+ hence the slight markup to get some into the UK/EU markets as they know they'll have good sales numbers with people who want them asap!

I'm on my PG42UQ atm and really liking it, not sure I'm going to jump as I first thought...

edit - Got it for £650 too from a local lad so a really good deal!!

That's a good deal :) yeah for the price difference not worth the upgrade imo,

hopefully you're right, not too fussed about the markup as that's standard UK bs since forever :)

Thats what I do with my AW QD oled ultrawide. Its on for about 10 hours a day and I've been doing so since launch. No hint of burn in. Just do regular panel maintenance from the OSD and you should be fine. Plus its covered for 3 years anyway if you go AW not sure of other brands

It's going to be so hard to wait for the dual mode monitors with all these other ones coming out :D the MSI does seem ideal for my usage but i'm (I am, I AM!) going to hold off and wait for reviews of this and others first (Swear I am )
Yeah initially I was dead set on getting that one, but when the AW was announced to be coming a lot sooner AND have dolby vision that sold it for me.

Looks like they put back the ETA dates for the MSI monitors and removed it entirely for the 4K model, that'll be my pre-order getting cancelled then.

Maybe the Alienware ends up being 1st to market in UK at this point, I'll be tempted even with the firmware issues with the 32" model.

I missed the news about the firmware issues with the 32". What's the story?

Gamma 2.2 in creator mode is brighter than gamma 1.8

various other issues, apparently better in 2.4 but crushes blacks

ICC profiles may fix most of these issues though :)

but yeah apparently poor out of the box, just going off what I've read.

Granted these are professional opinions so easier for them to detect issues I no doubt wouldn't.
