I think I read somewhere today that underclocking the memory helped but obviously not ideal..
Not when you've just spent £1300...

Good info and should help alleviate some concerns. And those who are putting blocks on, fingers crossed you don't run into issues in time. I have always put blocks on GPUs that allow it, just in case something goes wrong (which did with an Asus Titan).Well we have shipped nearly 500 units now on 2080Ti, not a huge amount due to the crazy shortages but so far we've not seen anything out of the ordinary returns wise on any board partner brand. Palit is our no.1 brand for units shipped, then Gigabyte, followed by Zotac. Saying that all the brands have no alarming return rate.
All I will say is I know AIB coolers are more effective at cooling as the FE cooler can get quite toasty from feedback I've heard.
Would be interested in seeing if any FE owners and AIB owners can share memory temperatures and memory VRM temperatures on their cards, could be a cooling issue causing the memory failure.
Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up.
We've just had 18x 2080 Ti FE's free issued by one of our customers, I was oblivious to the fact we were even using them in anything, but I have let the lead project engineer know about the potential failures and advised extended testing before signing off the systems for release back to the customer. The build are being processed this week, so I'll update if we see any failures.
It's highly disappointing to see this sort of QC/QA issue, but it is one of those things that sometimes happens. I do feel bad for the individual users who pay substantial sums of money for these cards, and might be left without a system for a while, hopefully Nvidia can sort them out quickly.
I thought we were all enthusiasts, regardless of what is in our machines
I guess it's useful for prospective buyers like myself because I hate troubleshooting and fault finding and living without a gpu for a couple of weeks. My local pay monthly catalogue just got some 2080ti cards with 0% apr which makes it easier for me to buy one but now I have held off until some version 1.1 or similar revision is made to the cards/vrms/gddr6 or whatever. Also the listing of a £999 EVGA black edition coming eventually could hint at an across the board £200-£300 imminent price cut.
I don't think it has been listed at £999 has it? I only saw the US $999 announcement. I don't doubt it will be available in the UK soon enough, but pricing hasn't been confirmed yet I don't think. It SHOULD undercut the FE though, hopefully. Regardless, a £200-300 price cut on other cards any time soon is somewhat optimistic I feel.
Perhaps they need to recall them all?
A lotis'of 2080tis have' blown up on the internet.
You want a £2000 card next gen? That's what'll happen if they do that.
I really think you should get a refund, there are too many problems and maybe buy another card when the issues are definitely sorted out or wait for 7nm as Nvidia don't deserve your money at the moment in my opinion. Are they paying for the return shipping I hope?
I'm now considering just getting a refund instead. I'm done waiting for this lot to send me a RMA.

I am getting very frustrated, I was told when I phoned yesterday having not heard anything for six days that a shipping label had been created for me and I'd definitely get an email that same day with the info and shipping label so I could return the card.
Well guess what, no email yesterday so I phoned them again today and the woman on the phone didn't know anything about the shipping label and said the ticket had been updated with my concerns and I will get an email in 24-48 hours with updates on what's going on and a response to my concerns.
This is shocking it's like getting blood from a stone, how hard is it to arrange a courier to collect the card so I can send it back and get a refund? If I have to pay for the privilege that would be the final straw. I definitely won't be ordering direct from Nvidia again and I'll order from the professionals next time.
Really, that bad Gibbo? That's very worrying, I'll update this thread with my progress over the next few days. It's strange though, when my Shield Tablet developed a fault 3 years ago they were very efficient: I talked to online chat and within minutes the agent had sent me an email with the Fedex shipping label and instructions on how to send it back . Now the online chat is only for technical support they tell me and you have to phone the call centre instead and they don't deal with the returns themselves it's some other team that you can't contact directly.I had exactly same issue when trying to RMA a Titan I had to buy direct from them, in the end I nearly binned the card and had to get my NVIDIA UK account manager to get involved. They can be a nightmare for RMA's as your finding out.
