2080TI Recomendations

Zotac twin fan for £990 5yr warranty is my pick purely on price and warranty. I can not afford it until 9th Sept. :(

Go for evga. Warranty and cover under water are the perfect combination for peace of mind. I've had to RMA with them (lovely space Invaders came to visit) and although it's taken a while EVGA sent out the new one within 3 days of receiving my card.

Nearly went for EVGA but wanted FTW3 Ultra Gaming and couldn't find it for decent enough price. Have ordered the Zotac AMP with 5yr warranty :-)

Just got the Palit dual and it is anything but quiet!

Got mine set in afterburner to 73 degrees max temp and the fans never go above 50% so I never hear them. Ive got no mech drives in the system plus my Corsair AIO is set to silent and all my Corsair MF140mm fans are set to 40% so any changes in volume to my already quiet system stand out a mile.

How high are you fans turned up? Its quiet because you dont need to turn them up given how well it cools itself.

Isn’t that so quiet because you’re underclocking the GPU? What clocks does that boost to?

My Zotac Amp never goes above 72C when clocked at 2100/8000, usually sits at 69C, but it’s set to max temp 87C.

What a complete **** up

Ordered direct from the rainforest place, was excited to go and collect from collection point to receive a small box which I knew couldn't fit a 2080ti and instead contained two cheap children's watches. Following a long saga with the collection point (hub point in Next) and the rainforest customer service, privelege of having to repackage and return item from a separate collection point 10 miles away have I finally returned home some 3hrs later to find they are processing as a refund and not immediate replacement as I discussed on the phone. What should have been a great experience is anything but :(

It's possible that the noise is coming from the other bits of the system, in the end. The Palit Dual has quite a chunky cooler (which is good) but it completely covers the X570 chipset fan, which is working it's tail off at 4200 RPM to try to get some air through...

Think you pretty much summed it up. For me, the lack of noise and I think this is how its designed to be, comes from the fact the fans dont need to do as much work as other cards. Due to the massive 2.75 slot heatsink. Due to my excellent case cooling and air flow set up, the fans never get up past 50% really and with the temp max set to 73 degrees theres no throttling either. Its defo your set up and not the card as mines so quiet I literally replaced it with the next model up upon upgrading, mainly for that cooling and lack of sound.

No underclocking dude. Wasnt aware you could actually lesson performance on purpose? What kind of blasphemy is this you speak of? :p

Seriously though, I have a token +50 added to the core in afterburner. Cooling is awesome in my case with the Corsair AIO Rad at the front cooling the de-lidded 8870k and three mf140 fans exhausting on the top of the case and another at the rear.

I'm more than happy with a token little overclock on the card and the 2080ti has been chewing through everything Ive thrown at it in 4k with settings the way I like them. Don't like depth of field and no need for high AA at 4k.

Depends on what you want I guess. I saw around 5-7% performance loss from going max overclock 2050mhz to 1800mhz. But the voltage was 0.800mv vs 1.043v. And that resulted in around a 50% power usage reduction and obviously a huge drop to fan speed and temperature.

I had this on my card as the coil whine was just unbearable at full load but was pretty much completely gone at 800mv. Being watercooled anyway I came up with the idea to put my case away in an enclosed environment where it is now pure silence whatever the clocks. And I mean you could hear a pin drop over the system at full load. Plus there are other perks such as minimal dust, now been able to use a larger case and given me more space.

I think people shouldn't seek shopping advice from the 2080ti demographic (no offense). Clearly these people aren't fiscally constrained and tend to a maximum when it comes to building gaming rigs.

I don't own a 2080 Ti but would definitely recommend one to someone who wants to get the maximum out of their gaming time.

The OP had already decided he wanted a 2080 Ti and just wanted to know which were the better ones.

From his signature the OP has gone for an MSI 2080 Ti Lightning Z which is one of the very best available.

@Darren777 enjoy the card.:)

Got the card installed (Zotac AMP) and loving it! I know it's not the best value proposition in the world but it's giving me lots of enjoyment now and for a long while to come!

Just need my 3900x now to remove that bottleneck in VR sim racing...

Been messing around oc'ing with my new card. Only managing +111 on the core but decent +1000 on the memory. Boosts to around 2050 average, touches 2100 but generally hovers around 2050.

Is the average? I never seem to be too lucky with the silicon lottery! Not gonna bother messing with voltage or flashing bios - in time maybe. Adjusted power / temp limit to 115% & 88 respectively.
