21/7 Bomb Ploters Guilty!

I'm sure I read that they just had the wrong amounts of ingredients in the mixture. They were supposed to be explosive, but weren't.

I certainly don't believe for a split second that they're innocent
That's what I remember hearing too, I'm sure there was a video of the result of the right quantities with the same materials were used too.

Didn't one of the accused flee dressed as a woman also?

Yeah actual - I remember that, it was a mental explosion. You could see the shockwaves in the air (in slow motion) where it's 'bending' the light

i remember that video too, it was horrific.

And yeah, one tried to flee in a shirka or whatever they are called. The Ringleader also went to Pakistan at the same time as all the 7/7 bombers went there, off doing military training.... i guess that's a good way to show your opposition to the war in Iraq

But wouldn't we still have to pay to have them executed?

Also what's more of a punishment for a martyr? Death or imprisonment?
Definitely. Punishing somebody with death? That basically means that they don't get punished and get out 'easy', some would say.

But also, how can you justify punishing someone with death because they've killed someone else? Surely that brings the punisher down to the level of the criminal?

So... dogs that attack/kill people shouldn't be put down, either? It comes down to individual morales/opinions there. My morales say it's perfectly fine to kill a murderer, it doesn't put the punisher down to the level of a murderer in my books ;)

We should be building a gallows as I type if you ask me, so they get the old Saddam Swing treatment. You know, hurry them on their journey to their 72 virgins in paradise. Instead we have to pay so they get fed, watered, free dental and free healthcare. What a ****** up world we live in.
Yeah, shame we don't live in a Muslim state where we could get away with that sort of thing.

But you'd be removing their life like they did to someone else.. How is it different?

It gets even more hypocritical if you get revenge killings:

Daughter is murdered by a man.
Father catches and murders the man.
Father is caught by police and put to death.

Were you thinking of "A Time to Kill" when you posted that? Sounds almost exactly like the story from it...

Nope but it wouldn't surprise me, story-lines are often inspired by true life events.

Well in this case it was two attackers, and the father came into the courtroom and sprayed an M16 at them while they were on trial.

In there, I'd say the father is quite justified to do that TBH. Prison for him, for not going to the police and being legit about it. But he wouldn't get a death penalty under my ruling :p

The death penalty is certainly down to everyones personal opinions & morales - there's no definate answer to it tbh. If a majority of a country agree with a death penalty, then it should be an acceptable punishment. If they don't, then it shouldn't (hence we don't have a death penalty) :)

21st of the 7th? That hasn't happened yet, is there something you know that you aren't telling us? :p

Serious note, can honestly not believe its taken 2 years to get this far with this :( Our judicial system is a joke.

It's not taken 2 years - they weren't arrested on the day and even if they had been it's not yet the 21st. If you knew what goes into a court case you wouldn't think what you do. Compared to most of the world our judicial system is actually rather quick (Italy is the slowest IIRC).

Was it actually flower? Were there any explosive materials involved?

It was flour and Hydrogen Peroxide ..... won't say any more on a public forum.

As for justice being served 2 years later, that is likely on a trial that would be complicated to say the least. The trial itself took 6 months and thats without time on remand. I personally don't think its a bad reflection on the judiciary
