***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

Theres a few threads on reddit about the issue from people who have had it a few months in other countries, but hopefully its a driver issue that can be fixed, not hardware..

I've bee reading about this on various other forms. I'll wait to see how it plays out... and hopefully the prices will drop a bit more as well.

anyone hears about the z35p? apparently it's coming out this month? although customers in Germany and other places in Europe have seen them in stores (and bought them)

3440x1440 so same panel as the omen x35 and the aoc, but acer have done something with the gsync module to allow it to run at 120hz OC (which all users have reported getting) even though that exceeds the dp1.2 bandwidth that it uses?

but at 120hz apparently the overshoot and flickering issues are gone, as in that fixes them somehow?

anyone at OC know when they'll get them?

no that's the z35, 2560x1080 200hz.

this is 3440x1440 120hz z35p.

review by an owner, seems readily available in Europe by looks of things?

No, that's an older model. The Z35P is the replacement for the cancelled X34P, which I *think* was going to be an updated model of the X34.

x34p was going to be 3440x1440 native 144hz, which is still in producing by LG (the panel itself) but won't be on the shelves until end of this year/beginning of next.

basically they have one VA monitor type and one IPS, being the x34 and z35 series, this 'p' is the updated z35 with a higher resolution .

I've seen claims that the production of the X34P is not going ahead at all (I never saw anyone claim it would be 144Hz either), and that they're concentrating on the Z35P now instead. Just Reddit and other sources mind you.

IIRC the special things of that monitor was native 100hz instead of the guaranteed overclocking + a more aggressive curve.

So I am joining the club, just bought the AOC AG352UCG 35" ultrawide monitor! can't wait for it to arrive, returning my Acer Predator 144hz 1440p monitor due to a vertical line issue that is to hard to ignore, so look forward to trying ultrawide! only thing I'll miss though is the lower refresh rate?

Anyone else drop down to 100hz ultrawide from a 144hz monitor?

The difference between the 3440x1440 and 2560x1080 panel at 34" is that the former is nice and sharp and the latter is very soft in comparison. It's not a case of seeing big pin-sharp pixels everywhere, that's not really how it works. It's more like you're looking at everything through a sheet of perspex in comparison.

This,

I ordered LG 34" ultrawide after hearing pixels per inch wouldn't be a problem... well I was wrong. I sit pretty close and I HATED it. Why the hell do they even bother manufacturing such big monitors with 1080p is beyond me. In games I don't think it was really an issue, but reading any text? yeah it looks shank and grainy....

If you sit furthar I guess it's not an issue however for me it was a dealbreaker I had to send it back.

Anyone got any opinion on new LG ultrawides coming out? cheap and right up my street.

29UM69G model to be specific.

75hz default refresh rating and IPS AND freesync.

I'm desperate to go back to ultrawide + IPS for better color, i'm currently playing on an ASUS 24" TN panel that's a few years old now.... I'd like some more vertical height but obviously as discussed above at 1080p really you're stuck at 24" or 29" ultrawide.

Only thing is with panel mentioned above is bit depth....

21:9 lovers, i am seriously tempted to purchase a Samsung CF791 FreeSync panel 100HZ with Low Framerate Compensation.

What do you think, anyone here using this panel? Interested in pros and cons.

Currently using a Samsung U32E850R 4K 60HZ FreeSync panel, which will move to my second system. I'm not worried about the slightly lower resolution.

Agreed, I'm coming around. £800 is a lot though, so i hope its worth it. I'm glad it has FreeSync Low Frame Rate Compensation, otherwise i probably wouldn't bother getting it.

Quantum Dot, any thoughts on that tech?

Look around at the different threads and user reviews on this model, its had a lot of problems with free sync causing flickering, and its a hardware problem that can't be fixed with a driver update, do some research before you commit!
