***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

Using a vega 56 with my 3440x1440, came from 2560x1080 in the last few days there, vega 56 is taking quite the beating now to the point where I have to drop settings to high/medium instead of fully maxed to achieve 60+ FPS

Dunno if it's been mentioned, but https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ultrawide-video/lngfncacljheahfpahadgipefkbagpdl

Chrome extension that works for like netflix and youtube etc.
Thanks, think I may have included that in the first post or might have been another one.

Thanks for that. How do you find the difference.
I'm enjoying the pic quality in Ultra.
Wondering if High/med with the extra res makes up for losing out on ultra settings.

I prefer picture quality over frames as play most games solo or single player.
Playing Division 2 and just got FarCry 5 in sales and get 40-80 on Division and 60-100 on FarCry with max settings and does look good and smooth for most part.

Fancy treating myself but don't want to have to upgrade the whole PC for the monitor.
Maybe I am at a sweet spot with all my system for what it does. I could go 1440p 16:9 but seeing all these posts with ultrawide has tickled the tastebuds :0)

Depends a lot on the game tbh, some games there's very little difference between high and ultra.

On the whole 1440P does help a lot for IQ in terms of clarity, some good videos out there:

So I've jumped on the band wagon.

So I guess it's time to update on this thread? :p

I've had my LG 34UM95-P since 2014 when it first launched, Germany got it first so mine was shipped from Germany and having just checked emails, I paid €972 for it

I was lucky in that LG in the end sent me a free one after I had various issues with backlight bleed and I was collabing with LG at the time so had someone there perosnally inspect the 2nd replacement for backlight bleed, so to that end the monitor I have today is one of the very few out there 34" ultra-wides that have excelent bleed control on the edges. Yeah blacks aren't pure black as it's still an IPS, but my enjoyment of games and media has been excellent with no bleed getting in the way:

I feel that 8 years on it's finally time to go OLED, the original dream come true. 60Hz has been fine so far but I have hardware now that can get more than that so some kind of adaptive vsync is desired and a 175Hz refresh on the same size screen is the way to go for everything else!

And im an ass, that got curried away by the hype. This sadly is my stance right now!
Will get interessting when a 38 comes out - the least vert fov I would be happy with!

Update: Totaly changed my mind - for what it's worth!
Tried some gaming tonight on my PG279Q - same vert space (fov) as this UW, as we know!
I hated the bloody supersmal fov. No way I can live with that, no matter how good it May be!

So I will Definetly go for the C2 42 incher, and be immersed!
How many more threads you going to post the same message in?

well, ...all I can say is I want the Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED when it comes out, I've bought a lot of monitors over the last few years all of them with various compromises, some have been ultawide some haven't, I've moved most of them along, I absolutely love my OLED tv and I do use it to game on from time to time, I have a PC in the living room for exactly that and it looks amazing, but at 55 inches it's not suitable as a desktop monitor and I do most of my gaming and all of my work sitting at my desk ...an ultrawide OLED would be exactly what I am looking for. Burn-in isn't a huge concern aslong as it doesn't ruin the display within say 3 years.

Considering getting the AW3423DW, as an OLED monitor is something I have always wanted but my current monitor is the AG353UCG, which does have amazing blacks and HDR 1000. Kinda hoping they all sell out so I don't get one, but then again it would probably make me want to get it even more.
