***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

Some good news for fallout 4 21.9 users who like to use the power armour, fix for the HUD!

Go to: Documents>My games>Fallout4 open up Fallout4.ini
Under the "[Interface]" copy paste this:

For 3440x1440:

fUIPowerArmorGeometry_TranslateW=0.00001
fUIPowerArmorGeometry_TranslateZ=14.0000
fUIPowerArmorGeometry_TranslateX=0.0001
fUIPowerArmorGeometry_TranslateY=265.0000

And for 2560x1080:

fUIPowerArmorGeometry_TranslateW=0.00001
fUIPowerArmorGeometry_TranslateZ=12.0000
fUIPowerArmorGeometry_TranslateX=0.0001
fUIPowerArmorGeometry_TranslateY=360.0000

Yet to try myself....

Well the new Acer X34 screens look very nice but the price tag is painful, hopefully over the next year we'll start to see a wider choice and more mainstream pricing.

Yeah reports seem positive so far but I rather avoid acer because of the poor CS and I just can't bring myself to spend more than £600 max on a monitor especially when the panel that they are using is the one that every other company is using for their 34" 1440 screens except overclocked to 75HZ and with sync tech..... Hopefully LG, Dell, AOC and Samsung will get their free/g sync 75/100HZ versions out soon.

EDIT:

Also, scope fix for 21.9 too! :D

Yeah I can't justify the high prices of monitors these days when it seems to be the accepted case that you might have to return a couple of them until you get a good one in terms of bleed etc.

I currently have a 1440p/144Hz screen and the high frame rate is nice but to be honest for what I play, with FreeSync working I think I'd be happy to trade down from 144Hz to 75-100Hz to get the 21.9 aspect ratio.

After the superb support BenQ have given me I'd be very happy if they were to release a suitable screen.

Just a quick recommendation for those who want a cheap Ultrawide that actually performs pretty well. I have had a LG 29um57 for months now that has cost me around 220 pounds plus delivery and i must say i have been so impressed with this "little" monitor. No yellow ips glow at all and only a smidge, and i mean so so so so so so little :), of purple'ish in the lower left corner during dark scene and only when the room im in is blackened out completely and is still easy to overlook. It also handle an OC to 75 with ease. Input lag is minimal thanks to the DAS feature(look at LGs page for the monitor to read more).

Now the only 3 Cons i think this screen has is no variable refresh rate(freesync/gsync) and the construction isnt very impressive but it does come with vesa mounts 100/100mm support so you can get rid of the ugly stand and last it only has 2 hdmi where i myself would have loved to see atleast one display port. But its a solid piece of tech for those who want to try out ultrawide and if you want freesync support the bigger brother that i believe uses the same panel, LG 29um67, is available for only 30-40 pounds.

All - great thread.

Anyone able to offer experience of running 21:9 with an R9 290X 8GB at 2560x1080? This will be on the LG 34" Freesync screen 34UM67

Thanks in advance.

Yeah the bleed issues with these 21.9 monitors has been a complete joke and tbh, it has probably put an awful lot of people of the 21.9 monitors and stopped them from becoming a lot more popular :(

290 @2560x1080 here and I have no problems running most new AAA games on max without AA and maybe 1-2 settings turned down so with a 290x 8GB and freesync, you shouldn't have any issues.

As pointed out, 1080P @ 34" isn't going to be pleasant though unless you sit pretty far back.... Also, AMD currently don't offer support for 21.9 VSR resolutions.

You would probably sell it easier if you checked it for blb etc anyway. Why does dell want you to check it?

All replacements had speaker grill coming off in 2 places. ... Every single copy I had...maybe not a major issue but for screen for that money you want it perfect. O wouldn't be too bothered but looking in to future, possible buyer could say that it is a fault and would like to go down on price ;)

So yeah...will check for blb and speakers... And then might advertise it again.
