***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

Well the LG 34um68 is packed again.. Just waiting for the packing label they are suppose to send to me. I changed my mind on it and asked for a refund instead. Getting back onto my Dell 1440p and reading doesnt give me a headache. While text was not that bad all things considering on the 34 inch 1080p screen i could clearly see each individual pixel and after a while it got to me. So i think for now im going to stick with ordinary 1440p as Ultrawide in that resolution is just to darn expensive for me. Sadly.

I wish there were a 31 inch UW model with 3440x1440 and of course above 80hz for decent money

I'm still torn on whether to keep my x34 or not. I think I'm going to order the 32" predator 4K just to satisfy my itch for 4K and either keep or return the x34.

I've managed to work around getting most of my games working in 21:9. Just throughly annoying how this day and age current gen tittles don't support the resolution out of the box!

Well i think its only overwatch of the games ive tried that doesnt support it. Everything else has worked perfectly or after a simple ini edit. Heck the game i play the most which is grim dawn just works. That said been thinking of 4k myself. While my 290 wont be anywhere near enough im sure i could still game in 1080p and watch movies and do desktop work in 4k. If you ever scratch that 4k itch please report back with your experience.

I haven't come across a game that doesn't support it yet. Even Arkham Asylum worked straight away. Some games have minor issues. Cut scenes are usually 16:9 so have black borders, the end game chat is cut off as well. Otherwise it's been faultless. The Division even has an option to move UI elements right to the edge of the screem!

Has this been mentioned on here yet?

35" VA 3440x1440 dp1.4 144hz monitor by AOC announced,

Nice find, and very very interesting... VA though, but it should at least offer a bleed/glow free experience which IPS is yet to provide. Price will be the key on this.

I'm guessing this is using one the AUO panels mentioned here. This doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence given their recent track record.

So after receiving my X34A and setting it up , i found the bezel has issues coming away from the middle section of the monitor and the light bleed is insane , i had a 4k tn before and i thought that was bad enough until seeing this.

Phoned overclockers to return only to be told that there is no issues with these monitors and the light bleed problem i have is actually ips glow and i should have researched this before purchasing and that it is an acceptable amount of light bleed lol.

any one else had any issues with these

Err, well, they can't tell you that without seeing it! If the bezel is coming away from the panel, that is clearly faulty! Besides that though, they cannot definitively say there are no issues with ALL of any monitor and dismiss what you're saying so casually. Take this up the food chain, you clearly spoke to a numpty!

Simple test for glow is to move your head... does it go away? If not then it's bleed.

Regardless of whether it's a undesirable failing of the tech that can't be helped, if it affects your enjoyment, send it back. The fact that different monitors suffer to different degrees shows that there's more to it than 'ips screens have glow, deal with it'.

the person i spoke was very rude but i wont go into that here, but he also told me that i have to return the item at my cost , and the monitor isnt faulty , even as it is , i have a few pics i can put up. The funny thing is i got 2 of these for me and my best mate and both are poor bezel wise but mine is worse on the bleed.

So is that right ? i have to return it at my cost? cheers for the info

Probably just a minimum wage monkey hating life. Ring back and ask to speak to someone more senior or know what they're on about and know the applicable law.

I've had the same issues here when I bought some RAM and had a faulty stick. Kept ringing back until I found someone helpful and had a new stick of RAM the next day AND a 20% off voucher to spend in their store.

I tried to order one of these from OCUK, got the same high standard of customer service.

This is my first proper monitor purchase for a long time and was so hyped to get this , i myself am not happy with the quality but returning it at my cost seems highly unfair .

Is that the x34 or x34a?

Have you contacted Acer via twitter or anything like that?

I'm concerned as I've recently ordered this screen. And the reviews I've come across are extremely mixed. Are they any good alternatives?
