***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

Its NICHE NICHE NICHE NICHE. Just like 4K is. Plenty games still dont have HUD scaling for 4K.

Everything I run on my X34+1080 runs perfectly, and any games that don't work out the box have required a simple tweak no more complicated than adjusting graphics settings. Sure 21:9 isn't anywhere near as popular as 1080p, but it's VASTLY superior to any 16:9 monitor with the immersion factor (and that includes any 4K screen), runs VASTLY better than 4K, runs silky smooth with G-Sync, and is simply '****** BRILLIANT! Knock it all you want, you just come across as bitter and you're only missing out.

I'm new to 21:9, my PG348Q arrived 2 days ago and I'm blown away!

I've never gamed at 2k (despite using a 2k screen for photo editing for 3 years) but the extra resolution makes a great difference to all games I have tried, and having a wider view is far more immersive, I love it and wouldn't want to go back now. This and a Rift would be a perfect combination for me.

I've tried out loads of games and only had to change an in game setting to get the correct resolution, only ArmA 2 has required two lines changing in a config file. Easy enough but I was expecting to have to do this more if I'm honest. Only had to dial a couple of settings back in The Division, Rainbow 6 Siege & ArmA 3 to keep the frame rate acceptable. To be honest with the increased resolution I can't tell I've turned anything down at all :) Very happy here, 0 dead pixels and no noticeable back light bleed :)

Just spotted this somewhere else and never thought about it due to always having my taskbar at the bottom. Running on the side supposed to give you slightly more pixels.

Do most of you run with it at the bottom or tried on the left side? (going to try this myself tonight)

^^

That is what it is like for all the 21.9 IPS panels/monitors.

The reason the bottom doesn't appear the same is because it has an external plastic chassis covering that part, without the chassis plastic assembly, it would more or less be the same as the top and sides.

Unfortunately, the "promo" pictures are misleading and show no bezel at all.

Sorry for adding to the quotes problem.

No need to apologise, it's not your fault :p

Done this since getting my 21.9 screen, much better especially for 2560x1080 21.9 screens, get a bit more vertical space for the browser etc.

Unless you've got something constructive to say please refrain from posting in this thread any more. Your constant 21:9 bashing is getting tiring now

Ive not bashed 21:9 ever.

Seems you've not ever read my posts here. Only "bashing" Ive done is saying 21:9 is niche. And apparently its okay to admit to piracy here on OCUK. Im sure your site partners would like that.

Fine, going on about how niche it is and comments like "boo hoo" are not constructive and are just baiting. Like I said, if you've got nothing constructive or useful to say in this thread don't bother. Your comments about it being a niche tech have been understood and noted.

If there's people admitting to piracy please RTM those posts and they will be looked at by the mod team. Thanks

How would an i5 2500k @ 4ghz and a 1070 run a 3440*1440 panel?

Im torn between staying at 1440p but moving to a Dell S2716DG for Gsync but 21:9 and the x34A or similar is keeping me thinking..

If I can run an ultrawide at good frames with a view to improving via SLI or upgrading to a 1080ti in time I may go superwide.

Advice warmly welcomed!

Cheers :)

I'd say you'd be fine. The higher the res is, the more it tends to push the load onto the gfx card :)

Will give it ago tonight and see if I can get used to it after 25+ years of it being at the bottom.

Me too

Just trying to make my brain adjust to the side bar

Edit...Cant get used to it but have tried auto hide and that works better for me with the taskbar at the bottom.

Good shout though
