If your going to go superwide get 3440x1440 and test that, you'll only be disappointed with 2560x1080.

What an upgrade from my two cheap BenQ panels... Easily the best upgrade for my PC since my first SSD.
if you know where to get a xr34 for £300 then just do it, ocuk had the fury for £300 and for a £600 outlay that would be pretty epic.So one question that is really giving me trouble is just how big a deal is the gsync. From what I can see I can get an super wide 21:9 in the Acer XR34 for £300, to get the X34 or it's Asus equivalent is another 3-400 quid, is that a worthwile spend? I'm planning to pick up a 1070 so the adaptive sync for the monitor is out, but I figure I won't miss a feature I've never had. What I find hard to stomach though is the idea that gsync is worth more than upgrading to a 1080 or going AMD for freesync and getting two Fury's for crossfire.
At the minute, I'm looking at spending a £1000 to upgrade my visuals, but with Gsync that turns into £1400 and really I'm not sure I can quite grasp that. Is it really worth that price? Is it worth blowing that quantity of money and having to delay buying something I really want down the line like a VR headset.
What made you choose that one over the UM88 which I think has a newer panel?

I'm completely fine with 34" 2560*1080. Desktop use is fine and games are brilliant. I guess it depends on your priorities. I'm familiar with 3440*1440 btw and have used one for work. Productivity wise I agree with you. For games and general desktop, not so much. Again, subjective, but 100 fps 2560*1080 looks a crap load better than 50fps 3440*1440p. So worth considering that too when upgrading.
