***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

Man i am sooo nearly pulling the trigger on the LG 29". Anyone know how well this will run xbox one? I've seen it'll be around a 24" screen after the bars. I dont really game on my machine currently an rx480 is on the shopping list eventually, so i'd be rocking onboard for now.

Do you guys find issues with games that have locked FOV?
Been reading and a lot of the games I play (FPS online e.g. RUST) Have a locked FOV and there is no benefit from an UW monitor. It just stretches the image (urgh, horrible)

My 980 struggles for consistent frames at that res, but I suspect it's got more to do with the 2500k than the 980. That will be changing soon. As soon as I can be arsed changing it all round.

I hope this doesn't mean my OC'd 2500k is bottlenecking my 980ti. I can't really afford to swap out the chip etc. right now :/

Never needed to use it myself, but I beleive there are many tools out there to force the H/V FOV changes, even in games that don't support it natively.

I'd check out WSGF for info as I can't really advise you myself.

Thanks. I believe force changing your FOV in Rust can result in a ban? not sure. I understand that it would offer an advantage to players with an UW but also seems unfair to penalise those with an UW.

Would onboard graphics will be able to drive this, i'm not gaming currently. Will likely pick up an rx480. Mainly watching movies on my pc and plugging xbox one into this for now.

I'm using an asus z170-k board.

Also what would be the difference between the one above and LG 34UM68 other than about £300

big difference in image clarity because of that difference in resolution. The 34um68 is 2560x1080 and the 34um88 is 3440x1440. It's difficult to explain in words but it's really night and day. the 3440x1440 panels are lovely and sharp and 2560x1080 at 34" just isnt (same dot pitch as a 27" 1080p 16:9 panel so if youve used one you know how soft it is) - 2560x1080 is better suited to the 29" ultrawides or smaller.

I didn't like my 34" 3440 x 1440 monitor at first because it felt too big for my desk, now i have had it a few weeks i love it, wouldn't ever go back down to 2560 x 1440 or 1080p, my only move forward would be 4K but unless i want a 40" screen, it's not worth it yet.

ah right. From what i hear if i am not stretching the image (for xbox one) i'd be using the screen (with bars) at around 24". Then again i've seen videos youtube of people using xbox ones full screen on the 29 and 34 inch and they look fine to me.

@acake how do you find the monitor?
Its a toss up between your one and the AOC U3477Pqu
sorry for not seeing this earlier so far so good.
I came from a 27" benq 2760s that was ok did the job.so this lg is amazing up to that.It is easy to set up colours look good and the stand adjusts nicelyup down and tilts smoothly

For work and net browsing its a good all round monitor even the sounds not to bad if you want to use it.
I dont play fps like bf1 cod etc mainly play armored warfare, WOT ,RTS games and they seem to run fine .
Gpu im using is r290 with the display port and freesync enabled and this runs most of my games at hi to ultra settings at 70+ fps so cant complain to much.

for the price its very nice all rounder other monitors will be better but they seem a higher price.
