paintwork is surprisingly poor on close inspection, lots of orange peel and the first collection of stone chips hurraah
slight typo there, unless you averaged over 18,000 miles a day between the 11th and the 26th
What was your old one on again?
And here I am wondering how reliable a diesel will be for my 15-18k/year

Fords recommendation is every 18k
due to the amount time it spends idling and the stop start use I tend to half the ford interval, eg every 9k for the mk5.
costs are pretty low as I do it myself. and the intermediate is nothing more than an oil and filter.
