24 hours of Le Mans 2014

No1 Audi almost rebuilt looking at the photos on twitter.

Marc Gene will be in the car instead of Loic Duval. Gene was meant to be driving for Jota Sport in LMP2. He's been replaced there by Oliver Turvey

Has the ZEOD RC actually managed to do a lap yet?

First they pinch the Deltawing design, then they say it's an electric car, then they fit a petrol engine....

This year does have an awful feeling about it. So many MASSIVE offs, just feels like it's going to go wrong at some point. Really hope I am wrong.

Qualifying done. Audi's may have left it a bit late.

1 #7 Toyota, 3m21.789s
2 #14 Porsche, 3m22.146s
3 #8 Toyota, 3m22.523s
4 #20 Porsche, 3m22.908s
5 #3 Audi, 3m23.271s
6 #2 Audi, 3m24.276s
7 #1 Audi, 3m25.814s
8 #12 Rebellion, 3m29.763
9 #Rebellion, 3m31.608s

Go Toyota!

Although qualifying doesn't mean much for a 24hr race.

The slow zone ruined the end of qualifying a bit. I don't think the Audis are genuinely 2 seconds off the pace.

Roll on Saturday! I'm really annoyed that things have been organised for me to do this weekend! All I want to do is cook BBQs and drink beer with Le Mans on :(

Indeed. Effectively the last hour with the slow zone killed it - hopefully it doesn't affect the race so much. Those Porsche curve barriers seem to take an age to rebuild.

The Audi's may be hiding performance with purple sectors whilst the slow zone was enforced.

Pierre Kaffer is set to race the second factory AF Corse Ferrari in this weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours after James Calado was declared unfit to drive after his crash in second qualifying.

...

Kaffer was present at Le Mans for the launch of the new Lotus-AER P1/01 LMP1 car and has close links with the Ferrari factory. The Swiss is one of its preferred drivers and has raced for Risi and AF, his last drive with the factory team coming at Petit Le Mans in 2011.

Calado has been ruled unfit to race by the FIA medical delegate after crashing heavily in the Porsche Curves early in the second qualifying session today (Thursday). The Briton, who finished third in last year's GP2 series, has tweeted that he is OK after the shunt.

Another injury at the same corner? Shame for Calado, bounced out of F1 last year and now Le Mans as well.

Dont recognise that name from f1 circles - test driver Im guessing?

Watched a little of qualifying early yesterday - but just got tired of the constant yellow / red flags. Yeah I know its for very good reason, but there seemed to be one minute of racing for about 10 minutes of red flag for quite a while in the 1st session

Hoping to catch some good racing over the weekend though - Porsche all the way for me hoping they can give the audis a good fight (is the #1 audi actually going to finish the race, it just appears to be a "troubled" car to this point with everything its gone through)
