24 hours of Le Mans 2014

It'd also be nice to get some racing action over the winter months. Le Mans is the highlight of the racing year for me so I'd agree that it should be the finale of the season.

Sebring at the start and Le Mans in the middle did mean most people's interest in endurance racing tails off well before the season ends.

 :D Looks like fun. :D

That's what they should do for scrutineering in Le Mans. Cars get trucked to the centre of town and inspected.

If they pass, drive them back to the track, but all at once and in reverse speed order. GT AM, GT Pro, LMP2 and LMP1 last.

They are scrutineered in town, aren't they? I sure there's at least a mass presentation.

But then getting them to drive back to the track is a brilliant idea!

They are scrutineered in the town square. Just with one big convoy of noise back to the track, and the almost silent Audi's at the back. ;)

Are any of you lot going down this year?

This will be my 5th year if I remember correctly, been going on a off since I was 12 (20 now) with my Dad and some of my Dad's mates.

It'll be our 4th time time staying in the 'Team Langoustine' site, which is on the inside of Tetre Rouge (best spot on the track for regular watching imho!). We also get grandstand seats, inside the main ACO building, as it has a cafe, shelter, drinks etc.

So, who's going? And what method of transport are you taking, and when do you go down? We go down on the Wednesday, and back on the Monday :).

Afraid not, it's on my to do list but I'm not sure that my wife would appreciate it if I buggered off for a long weekend whilst I leave her at home with a screaming child.

When I do get round to going I may have to pick your brains :)

Feel free!

It's a great time, and what I will say that if you can stretch to it, the camp sight I mentioned earlier is superb. You have to book a long way in advance, as it is so good. It has 24 hour security, all British, a bar, a big to in a big gazebo, and there are lots of lovely cars to look at in the site alone!

I would also recommend getting grandstand tickets, as they're superb for the start and finish of the race (get one of the stand that's on the pit lanr), plus seeing all the pit stops in very cool, especially at night.

You can do it very much on a budget, but then again if you're like my dad, he likes to do it properly :p I'm not complaining!

I'm in Tertre Rouge this year and have stayed in that one quite a few times. We may already know each other...

I'm going down with my dad in his Mk1 Cortina and meeting some friends down there who do it every year. They're usually up against the fence so they can see the track.

Finally decided to get organised and go this year - 40th present to myself! I'm over the other side of the circuit at Bleu Sud but similar deal - food, beer and clean showers in a private enclosure.

Going to try and combine the race with some history on the way home, the somewhat ambitious plan is to try and cover the Normandy beaches, the Somme, the Menin Gate and still make the last train on the Monday night. I must be mental!

It's looking like it could be awesome this year! Much as I support Audi, above all I want a good race and really hope Toyota can take it to them after their amazing showing last year. If Porsche are competitive too then that's a bonus.

Been twice myself - last year which was obviously tinged with tragedy and in 2009 when we very nearly bought the farm courtesy of Benoit Treluyer's monstrous crash (seriously close call!).
