God knows why you're allowed back on this forum. 1300core is fairly rare, game stable at least. Most people wouldn't run 1300core with +200mv for general gaming. Whereas the 970 seems to be 1500core+ seems to be the average (more importantly, game stable)
Anyways, looks like a 970 needs 25%~ core advantage to stay on par with a 290. But thats just in firestrike, idk how its in games.
Another score just posted in this thread, albeit a 290X at 1250/1500

Point is! a 290p at 1200 on the core will not beat a 970 at 1500MHz.

A 290p clocked at 1300 on air game stable, will be virtually none existent.

I never claimed they're common, or exist at all.
1300+ 290s arent rare, thing is most people dont know how to clock them and they run on air (ill give you that). But what do you expect. These cards are 1 year old now.

I know that, it's ranger though. He thinks everyone runs 1.5v through there chips so his clocks are the average, ignoring 5min bench isn't 3hour game stable.
I'm sure there's a few people who run 1300core game stable, even on air. Albeit more rare than me going jogging. The 970/980 seem to be 1500+ on air or water, as there's no voltage play the clocks aren't temp limited, hence air.![]()

Look who i'm replying to? did I say it was you who claimed it's common or exists at all![]()
I guess mine are crap. I can only manage 1285 tops for benching and that depends on what bench it is.
Temps are certainly not an issue.

Oh man I've opened a can of worms here! Everything I read seems to be suggesting I should just get a 290 and save some money as performance seems to be about the same but then there is this niggling doubt at the back of my mind saying get the 970. Maybe it is because it is new and shiny!
Yours are good, Ranger will now claim you're benching wrong though....not the silicons fault, your inexperience![]()

when 9/10 of people on here dont know about GPU Tweak and the bios then yea, its usually inexperience that keeps them from doing 1300+.
