290 or 970?

God knows why you're allowed back on this forum. 1300core is fairly rare, game stable at least. Most people wouldn't run 1300core with +200mv for general gaming. Whereas the 970 seems to be 1500core+ seems to be the average (more importantly, game stable)

A 290p clocked at 1300 stock cooled on air that's game stable, will be virtually none existent.

I know that, it's ranger though. He thinks everyone runs 1.5v through there chips so his clocks are the average, ignoring 5min bench isn't 3hour game stable.

I'm sure there's a few people who run 1300core game stable, even on air. Albeit more rare than me going jogging. The 970/980 seem to be 1500+ on air or water, as there's no voltage play the clocks aren't temp limited, hence air. :p

Anyways, looks like a 970 needs 25%~ core advantage to stay on par with a 290. But thats just in firestrike, idk how its in games.

I was talking from a benchmarking perspective, i was hoping you'd notice.

Oh man I've opened a can of worms here! Everything I read seems to be suggesting I should just get a 290 and save some money as performance seems to be about the same but then there is this niggling doubt at the back of my mind saying get the 970. Maybe it is because it is new and shiny!

Get whatever, both run games.

when 9/10 of people on here dont know about GPU Tweak and the bios then yea, its usually inexperience that keeps them from doing 1300+.

Don't quote me, mate.
Petey's post is 4 above me, quote him and tell him it's his inexperience. I'm sure he'll love to hear that from such a respected and experienced overclocker such as yourself.
