Hi Tom,

I can understand your a bit miffed having shelled out good money on this new GPU but I wonder have you tried a few different games and stuff? (not sure what that Lara Croft game is but do other people have the same issue? any sign of a patch for the game?).

Is this an issue in all your games or just the one in the screenshot.

Take a deep breath my man as you are now an official AMD/ATI Beta tester! :)

Yea mate like I said its all good in other games just some games dont seem to like the new AA mode thats all i was simply trying to say, yet some people pick there own opinions over someone who actually has the damn card, happened more than a few times aswell  . Anyway Im looking forward to see what ATi can pull out the bag because no body likes a blurry Lara Croft :D .

Not sure if that makes me feel any better :D

I just did some more AA screenshots to compare the AA of my 2900 card

btw: when i saved the image from photoshop, i didnt know what "Interlaced" PNG was, but i didnt select it.

Btw the track selection screen is all running in 3d btw. its not just a image of the track if thats what your wondering :)

Gyus, if you're disappointed with the 2900XT then just send it back under distance selling regs.

Heck by the sound of it it sounds like its not fit for purpose so even falls under sale of goods act

Looks like it's seven days.

I just asked if I can - Prob swap for BFG GTX if I can

"Where a contract is cancelled, the consumer must ensure that reasonable care is taken of any goods received and 'restore' them to you. This does not mean that they have to return them - unless you stipulate this in the contract - only that they make them available for you to collect."

nice, don't even have to return them

I wonder if ATI are doing some hand coded tweaks in the driver for each game to get the performance up? Where have I seen this before, ummmmm.

Seems strange the performance across the board isn't constant.

I fancy playing with one but there does seem to be far more issues than I would expect for a product thats been in development for so long. Fair enough it was only released a week ago but how long have they been tweaking it?

Keep up the good work Tom :)

The title of this thread should be "2900XT Discussion", there more yap than benchmarks...
Well, there are only a few owners, so the benches dried up. killer_uk should have some figures soon, since he just got his card this morning.

Right mine is in and working fine. Will get some testing done.
Make sure you check out Tomb Raider Legend for me, I still want to get to the bottom of how next-gen mode seems to disable itself even when it's enabled in the menu.

From what Tom was doing at the time it only seems to happen if you force AA in CCC and turn in-game AA off.

I'm testing that right now, could you add me to msn?

From his last screenshot post you can clearly see that it isn't as simple as the next-gen mode being disabled. Something is most definitely amiss but it's not as simple as that.

Best of luck to you fellas with the cards, hope things get sorted. In the end I still nearly bought one... but went for the GTX. Currently stripping the watercooling down to fit the card, haven't touched it for nigh on 18 months the radiator was almost solid with dust!

So even the the general concensus right now from not just the watchers but also the owners is this card is overwhelmingly a big waste of time?
I just dont understand the thinking, bad drivers are one thing but problems with the hardware is a complete other. 8800 series may not have had the best drivers but at least nothing "could be" hardware related.

to be honest guys I feel really sorry for the people who waited the 6months and then spent the cash only to end up disappointed. I hope the sitution becomes a bit better :)

Just cant help but think they released because they HAD TO get something out there in the market

Yep I even proved that it wasn't just the case of next gen being disabled but my word and proof didn't seem to be good enough, let's see how killer gets on.

AA in game with next gen ON is fine
AA in game with next gen off is fine
AA in CCC (AA off in game) with next gen off is fine
AA in CCC (AA off in game) with next gen ON is where the problems arise
