I'm pretty happy so far, I dropped my expectations after all the early hype but the rumours of no dual core had me worried so its a relief to see the A5 in there.

It's not aimed at potential Steven Spielbergs

Exactly this - You get what you pay for. They've priced "Final Cut Pro" at hundreds of pounds, and they've priced "iMovie for the iPad" for about £5.

No,

1) No apps, there is not that many for the iPad anyway, creating a 3rd resolution would be a mess.
2) Price, IPS panels are not cheap.

GarageBand could be really cool, but this is where I wish they'd done Thunderbolt and then could have added a fast multi-I/O box for bands to record into.

Nah, would be more inclined to think iPhone Nano or something like that. Cook has hinted recently about it.
