2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-II HARD DRIVE - JUST £79 inc VAT

The words 'sour grapes' spring to mind here.

If you got one, good on you, if you didn't, deal with it and stop moaning, it's not the end of the world.

Well looks like its time to remove my account from ocuk as im peed off that i had the damn drive in my basket entered card details 3 times through to confirm order then it says " We are sorry but we have run out of HD-227-SE, we do have this amazing offer from Hitachi for you though"

BYe Bye OCUk Good BLoody riddance!!!

1 unhappy customer never to return!!!!

got an email confirming my order... i had it in the basket for 12 minutes but couldn't complete the order as it would load the checkout.

now wait and see if i actually get one.

I'd like to here what Spie/OCUK has to say about this. I do not mean to disrespect a highly successful business person, but could you not see this was going to generate thousands of requests per second at this price on the internet? Surely a better plan could have been implemented as I'm sure you are probably already running some extremely capable servers there? Or are you?

I think the issue is they built it up for days, then the site fell apart.
Maybe in future they should just slip these offers in as a surprise, so it's a nice bonus for those that spot them..and doesnt p*ss off the other 1000 people that sat clicking refresh for 15 minutes.

WTF ! Added to cart at 13:33 with 45 in stock.

Unable to checkout or pay for it due to overload/blank screens. Now the cart empties itself

Same here - I got it into my cart when there were 48 remaining, but the checkout screen kept failing to load. When it did load, the delivery date gadget wouldn't work, so I had to keep refreshing.

Very frustrating, and very irritating.

Even though I am new to OcUK and I was looking to purchase one of these HDD's I decided not to, I would have thought that they would have offered these to loyal customers (bought at least 3 items from them within 1 year) and forum members (Min 300 posts), some of the 50 people would have only just joined and to limit it to 50..........hmmmmm, what that the madness in their thinking.

ps I cannot even get onto their website!!

Yea disappointing, got all the way through to the card secure page, which didn't display, tried again and it said I'd already ordered one of the HDDs, so was unable to get one anyway...

"You have already placed an order for HD-227-SE, as only one order per customer is allowed this order cannot be processed"

same here has it gone though or not ??

Pfffffft well what a shower of **** that was, they knew it would crash their checkout and there would be loads of ****ed off people.

I had one in my basket from literally the second it was put up, all my details are saved and it should have been 3 clicks and job done but no, by the time the checkout became responsive and actually displayed properly and stopped being retarded about the date it told me none left and do you want an Hitachi external, NICE!!!

should have just not bothered knowing full well that would happen and not had the stress...

I have no problem with 'first come, first served', but I'm not interested in a lottery.

Very poorly thought out, OCUK. Time to buy some disk elsewhere.

bugger, spent 20 minutes with one in my basket, trying to get through order confirmation page (it kept 500ing) then finally it goes through! Only to say they have run out ;-(

As someone who had it in the basket, set up an account and then went to pay only for the website to fail I have to say what a great PR disaster. For the few hundred it cost OCUK was it worth the negative PR?

What a waste of time, once an item is selected then it is removed from the shelf and placed in your basket, I clicked buy when it said 48 left then got Error 500 and all fell to bits. Also if this practice of selling more stock than you actually have continues then trading standards should get involved. i see this type of activity on ebay, make a fortune... :) if OCUK go same route.. they should have at least restricted the sale to exisiting members or previous shoppers at least there would not have been a mad sign up rush and half a country sitting at there computers hitting F5 every second at 1:30pm jeez.. even the help desk said to just keep trying. yah right , he said the server had failed due to demand. or just a bad site eh.. !!! what a rip.

I think it's the uncertainty that a lot of people have got a beef with. If you're not quick enough, fair enough, but if the website's giving some people randomly better access than others who turn up much later, then some orders fail at a different stage, that's when people get annoyed...

Exactly
