2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-II HARD DRIVE - JUST £79 inc VAT

I have to say if this thread IS closed I think that shows even poorer form there. You have to take criticism when you muck up promo deals like this.

The thread will not be closed we set out to sell 50 heavily discounted drives to our customers which we have done. I am sorry that certain people have missed out.

Nope. Mine was added to basket, and by the time it got through all the hammering of the site and made it to checkout, they were "all gone".

As you say - thats how most reputable companies operate... 1 in basket = 1 less available.

Paul

Actually in ecommerce, an item added to basket doesn't affect stock levels until it is paid for, and only at that point is the order actually CONFIRMED.

Something positive from me. This has actually encouraged me to look around the forums more. I've been a member for years as you can see but haven't bothered to come here very often.

Don't be bad losers, lifes too short

I bet a least 10 will end up on there  (Fleabay)
Its a shame so many people have found this experience so frustrating (myself included). But you have to remember what it was all about - generating interest (all publicity is good publicity ultimately), which it succeeded in doing.

I have used OCUK since 2002 and I KNOW the problems experienced trying to complete an order for this promo item DOES NOT reflect that usual fast and efficient service I have always recieved. ;)

On the plus side, it's saved you 87 quid.

LOL, exactly what I was thinking. I don't actually need any more storage, I was just having a go as it was such a good deal. Call it "woman in a shoe sale mentality" :D

I'm now quite philosophical and thinking "cool that's another 90 quid I haven't spent" :)

Fair play to all those folks that got one.
I would love to see the web stats and how many hits the site got in that 10minutes for instance.

Perhaps one of the mods could give us some figures?

On the plus side i never knew if you linked your forum account to your shop account you could get free P&P, so thats one positive for me :)

And you all should understand that everyone suffered slow loads, empty pages, etc., just some were lucky enough to slip through. This wasn't done intentionally by OcUK in bias, so stop blaming them for your bad luck.

If you 1posters had actually read the thread all the way through you'd have figured out there was expected to be a LOT of demand at the time of opening, so a server overload was almost eminent. If you don't understand the technology behind your purchasing choises, maybe you shouldn't bother buying online?
